Not acceptable standards in 2018 Smell in room and all over building Dirty carpets room was not cleaned properly rubbish from last guest still there total disrepair wardrobe doors and doors in room faulty Charges for wifi 7 pound rip off Gym you have to pay for and it's not acceptable very small Only stay if you physically have nowhere else and it's better then in the cold Only ever seen one person manning reception and took ages to answer calls

Good location, faded glory

Pros: You can tell it used to be very posh.
Cons: The room could have done with a fresh lick of paint. TV needed to have channels reinstalled every time it was switched on.
Location: Perfect location.
Perfectly clean, reinvestment in the hotel is clear but the place could do with more money being spent to bring it up to standard. e.g. lovely feature of old draws in the room but they couldn't be fully opened because of the bed being in the way. Bed perfectly comfortable. Shower hot and good pressure. All clean. Maybe a bit tatty. Some really lovely bits, some bits not so much.

You get what you pay for

rooms are big for a weekend away, beds are comfortable with a choice of pillows (only downside was that we found hairs at the bottom of the bed) tv wasn’t working it was very slow and channels were out of order You have to pay around £7 for WiFi which is not acceptable at all in a hotel now a days, we used it without a problem wasn’t slow but you have to keep signing in Swimming pool wasn’t included, had to pay separately which is odd for a hotel but a bit pricey (£8 for 2 people) plus you have to pay for towels and lockers not sure how much Showers were cold at the health centre, jacuzzi was not working, swimming pool and sauna room were nice (no lifeguards or any staff around) Overall you get what you pay for, its a cheap outdated hotel but it is located in a nice area and staff are very very rude! Lady at check out told us to just put the key on the desk and as we said thank you to be polite she ignored it (I have never ever been in a hotel where they haven’t said good morning or been polite or didn’t wish us a nice stay) will not be going back!

Bugs in Room

Avoid at all cost unless you want bugs in your bed and staff you do not care !!! Every room is damaged in one way or other!

they don't care for guests

My second worst hotel experience ever. And I have visited third-world countries, too. Things got to an early start upon arrival. Raining outside, I walked into the hotel reception area, to be greeted not by a warm welcome, but with a sour face from the girl at reception, who at first couldn't find my booking, then found it when I gave her my reservation number, then lost it and had to have the reservation number again, etc. all in a very rude manner. I had the chance to observe her check in other guests as well later on, as I was queueing to speak to someone (more on which later), and she was equally rude to everyone, including an asian couple, two polish girls and an english family, so the good news is that she does not discriminate. Going up to my room and opening the door, I was surprised to find it REALLY cold, and it remained cold after I had shut the window. Cold air was emanating from a ventilator near the window, which also produced a loud hissing noise. I went back down to the reception, queued again, and spoke to another receptionist, who assured me that she would have maintenance look into the matter asap. Two and a half hours later, I came back from dinner to find the room in the exact same condition, cold and with a noise that would prevent anyone who does not require a hearing aid to get a good night's sleep. Back down to the reception desk, as the phone in the room was not working, the same girl who had assured me blah blah blah, did her best to demonstrate genuine surprise when I told her that nothing had been done. She casually informed me that unfortunately maintenance had gone home (it was 20:30 on new years's eve), and there was nothing that could be done until the next day. I persisted, wishing to sleep in a warm and silent room, so a young man came out of the office behind her and offered to come upstairs and have a look. Long story short, there was nothing he could do either, the ventilator was even missing its lid, meaning it couldn't be turned to (hopefully) close, he offered to stuff it with toilet paper for me, which I declined. After he had gone, I turned on what looked like an air conditioning unit on the wall, hoping to at least minimize the cold, but the air coming out of it was not even warm, just not as cold as the air in the room. Another hour later, the room was no warmer. My stay in the hotel was for two nights, nothing else was done, not even on the next day, when I had been told that something might be fixed. That's my main gripe with your hotel, but, since I am filing a complaint I would also like to make the following points: - The windows were remarkably filthy, even the inside ones. - One of the handles on the window was broken. - The drain in the bath was blocked. - The drain in the left-hand wash basin was also blocked. - One of the lights in the bathroom was not working - The front left leg of the chair was broken. - There were marks on the walls, stains on the carpet, paint residue in on of the armchairs. I love manchester, but I'll steer clear of this hotel for the foreseeable.
