On our first day our bathroom flooded due to apparently the room above a shower overflowing which resulted in water gushing through the extractor fan in the ceiling. We immediately reported to reception whose response was to give us a downgraded room with no windows and a free breakfast. Unhappy with this the next day I requested us to be moved into a double room, an upgrade as these rooms were available and was told that only the manager could authorise this and bizarrely he was unreachable until Sunday which was the day we checked out. We requested the room be cleaned given the flooding and left for the day. Upon returning the room hadn’t been touched. Down to reception again and this time a room had become available and we were moved finally. No compensation offer for having all this hassle and something I’ve never experienced in a hotel ever… not something you expect in 2022! Disappointing and poor customer service.

Been to Gardens many times and it’s always fine, but not great this time. For some reason I wasn’t allowed friends in my room and when I did the lady on reception had to take ID off him. For two people in a room for two nights one tiny bottle of shower gel and shampoo isn’t enough. The smart TV is also not great and we had no idea how to get it working. Frustrating stay.

I liked the aesthetics and the way the hotel looked. The staff were friendly. Disliked the creaking and no AC in room. Though I do appreciate you get what you pay for.

Reception and bar area recently refurbished. The 4th floor where we were was old, dated and had a bad smell, probably the ancient carpets. Our very dated room was very small at the back of the building. Furniture should have been thrown out years ago. Strange smell in the internal bathroom. The biggest issue were the ill fitting windows which let in cold air and lots of noise. The excuse for curtains were useless at helping to keep out the draught..The garbage men arrived at 1.30am and deliveries started at 3am and we had to get up at 4am so very little sleep was had! I could have had a cheaper room elsewhere and wish I had! The annoying thing was that had the windows fitted properly sleeping may have been possible. Will not stay here again.
