Lovely guesthouse up in the hill

Pros: spacious room and en-suite. Beautiful view of the bay of Naples
Cons: Check-in. We arrived at midday and were left outside for two hours. We rang the numbers given, was first told somebody would come, rang again, nobody
Location: the location is outside of Sorrento with beautiful views of the bay of Naples and mount vesuvius
Il Casale is a beautiful guest house set in the hills above Sorrento. The views from Il Casale are stunning. It is quite remote but we enjoyed the 2000mtr walk down a stepped walkway into Sorrento which took about 30mins down and about 45mins back up. If you are not so keen on a hike there is a bus service from the main road into town regularly. There is also ample parking spaces if you hired a car. The rooms are spacious with a large en-suite. The breakfast is a continental with some lovely home made cakes and fruit. The only negative is check-in, this caused a big problem we arrived at midday, not unusual or problematic, however check-in is 2.00pm-7.00pm, what they fail to tell you is the guest house is locked front gates locked and nobody is there. We turned up with suit cases no transport but luckily a phone. There are two numbers to ring on the gate, the first number did not answer, the second answered and said they would send somebody up to let us in. One hour later I rang back, this time they said we would have to wait until 2.00pm as there is no one available to let us in and in any case this in the time check in begins. We were left outside for two hours, this caused a big problem, I spoke to the owners the next morning, they were in Naples so could not get back and blamed the agents expedia for not making this clear. You should not leave guests stood outside for two hours, you should make sure this does not happen again, you should sort this out with expedia urgent.
