Holidays in Mukutmanipur

It's situated 710 miles to the southeast of New Delhi, the capital city of India.

After some other nearby places? Sarenga is about 20 miles to the southeast, so hop in the car and start exploring! Alternatively, Bankura, 25 miles northeast of Mukutmanipur, is also worth the time.

Keen to visit Jayanti Sarovar, the Tata Steel Zoological Park and Jubilee Park? Then head over to Jamshedpur, 40 miles to the west. Sir Dorabji Tata Park and Bhatia Park are also close at hand and should be included in your travel plans.

Looking for something a bit more active? For a fun adventure through the area's landscapes, try out some mountain climbing or hiking.

Shore fishing is a pleasant way to slow down after a busy week of sightseeing. If you feel like more time outside, why not plan to go picnicking too?

Overwhelmed by sights and activities? Often the best way to see everything is to book yourself on a tour or two. The region boasts some outstanding guided nature walks, wildlife spotting tours, wildlife safaris and culinary tours.

Whether you're splashing in it, drifting on top of it or whizzing across it, nothing beats spending an afternoon by the water. You can have a go at a few watersports here, such as swimming and rafting.

See what's on at the region's art museums, nature museums, history museums and craft workshops. There are a few to select from, so it pays to do your research!

Keeping your eyes peeled for something outdoors that will please the whole family? The local area features some marvellous open-air markets and gardens.

The region has a captivating past. Spend a bit of time discovering a few of the close-by fortresses, historic mansions and historic palaces. Don't stress if you can't find that much information online — the locals will no doubt have some stories to share!

Learn about the area's beliefs and perhaps even get in touch with your spirituality by paying a visit to one or two of Mukutmanipur's churches, mosques, temples and monasteries.

"There is no love sincerer than the love of food," according to George Bernard Shaw, but add travel to the mix and it's a match made in heaven. You're invited to indulge in your two loves by eating and drinking your way through West Bengal.

Of course, you can't head home from Mukutmanipur without trying dalna (mixed vegetables in a spicy gravy) or jhol (light but spicy fish stew). Popular with the locals and considered regional specialties, they are a must-try experience for anyone with an interest in food.

It probably won't take much to persuade you to take a bite of chhena gaja (fried curd cheese and semolina balls), a sweet treat that'll make you want to pack up your bags and settle down here forever.

There's bound to be an air of fever and excitement around the 26th of January. The locals will be making preparations for Republic Day, a day of national celebrations.

Ready to hit the skies? Pack up your suitcase, set the alarm and make a plan to get to Bhagwan Birsa Munda Airport (IXR). It's some 95 miles to the west.
