Many people looking for a chic but relaxing holiday away from the usual haunts frequent the Greek island of Mykonos. The island's beauty, shopping and resorts echo images of Ibiza or San Tropez. However, the museums, beaches and architecture are unique, from the canal streets of Little Venice to the designer shops on Matoryianni Street and the luxury Mykonos Grand Resort. There is plenty on the 35-square-mile Greek island to fill any holiday.

Let ebookers help book your Mykonos holiday to ensure that you get the best that the island has to offer. While making reservations, you can check out some of the best attractions and tours on Mykonos.

Top Mykonos Island attractions

  • Matoryianni Street: Looking for a place to shop? Stroll along Matoryianni Street in Chora to find clothing, jewellery, and shoes while navigating the winding layout of the town.
  • Little Venice: Sidle up to a restaurant or bar by boat in Little Venice. This seaside town is a great place to enjoy an ocean view, a cool breeze and the sunset.
  • Armenistis Lighthouse: Tours of this working lighthouse overlooking the Cape Armenistis neighbourhood in Mykonos Town give you a taste of the history of the area.
  • Aegean Maritime Museum: In the middle of Mykonos town, you will find this tribute to maritime history. Take a tour through Aegean history that begins in the days of the Ottoman Empire
  • Mykonos Diving Centre: If you get tired of Psarou Beach, hop on over to the nearby Mykonos Diving Centre for lessons and excursions off the island's coast.
  • Panigirakis Castle: The perfect place for photos of the island, Panigirakis Castle is an estate that you can rent out for events and picnics. Many island parties take place at the castle.
  • Playa Super Paradise: Have a wild day of beach fun on one of Mykonos's more notorious beaches. The music is loud, the drinks flowing and clothing is optional at Playa Super Paradise.
  • Mykonos Grand Hotel and Resort: The Mykonos Grans Hotel and Resort is extremely popular with tourists seeking relaxation above all else. Relaxing pools, massages and extravagant rooms are the norm at this hotel.
  • Infinity: Stay in the hills where there is always a view of the sea and the rest of the island. Infinity isn't a hotel; it is a group of private villas for rent, ensuring additional peace and privacy.
  • Platis Gialos: When reserving a family-friendly hotel with ebookers, look for a place along Platis Gialos. It is a street with family hotels on one side and the Mykonos island beach on the other.

  • Panormos: Mykonos beaches in summer are crowded affairs. Beat the crowds and the notorious winds by frequenting the sands of Panormos on the northern shores of the island.
  • Psarou: A beach closer to town that attracts the more glamorous loungers, Psarou is a great place to mingle with posh island visitors.

Best time to take a vacation to Mykonos Island

Flights to Mykonos (and the island itself) are very crowded during the peak of summer (July and August), when temperatures can reach up to 37ºC during the day. The best time to go to Mykonos is just after the island has opened for the season (after Easter) or just before it closes in mid-October. Reserve your holiday to this island destination with ebookers for May, June or September when the temperatures average around 23ºC.

International flights arrive directly from several major European cities, or you can take a 45-minute charter flight from Athens. The other transport option is a ferry ride from the mainland, which takes at least two hours.
