Excellent base

The hotel is old and full of character we literally ate breakfast and slept here. Rooms clean beds comfy bit noisey from traffic but hey it's the city that doesn't sleep! Had to queue for breakfast most mornings but that is a good sign as it is not just for hotel guests and the diner across the road was empty! All staff very helpful and hardworking.

Don't trust the Concierge.

Pros: The location.
Cons: They need to be honest with guests and not pretend that they have a concierge or facilities for providing breakfast in the hotel.
Location: Its walking distance from time square and central park.
Having booked in I attempted to ask some information and was told to ask help from their concierge which was located at the side of the hotel. Pretending to help me I was sold two tickets for a show and was charged $149 each plus a handling charge for centre seats. When I received the tickets which were only $89 each and were positioned on the far right at the back I asked for a refund and was refused. When I complained to the Hotel manager they then decided that the concierge was actually nothing to do with them it was another company. I asked to speak to the gift shop manager and was fobbed off. When the assistant tried to help me there was no information anywhere that I had even brought tickets to the theatre. The manager of the hotel felt that the overcharging was the cost of delivering the tickets. Basically I was robbed and could do nothing about it. I paid for breakfast but this is also nothing to do with the hotel it is a café located at the side entrance and serves the public. You have a choice of two items to choose from which never changes. You have to join a long line of public customers to be seated and when seated have to eat the meal which is almost thrown at you with the long line of customers to be seated standing beside your table looking at you. I paid for breakfast for my whole stay but only ate there twice I couldn't face it a third time. I don't advise anyone to pay for breakfast as it is not what you would expect when staying at a hotel.

Great location but over priced

Great location but massively over priced! Hotel is dated but I think that's what some people go for.

Long weekend break

I have stayed at the Wellington hotel several times and have no hesitation about returning it is in a fab location easy access to just about everything either walking or using the subway outside the front door . I think it is great value for money and the rooms are clean and tidy. My only gripe is that in this day and age is the horrendously high charge for wifi! It is ridiculous to even consider charging for it especially as you only have to go out the front door and down the stairs into the subway and it's free! You don't even need to get down onto the platform. Everywhere has free wifi and the hotel needs to recognise that and stop charging for it. Esp the silly prices they currently do charge.
