With the bad press this hotel got last summer the main issue's being long queues to check in and cleanliness i was a little apprehensive about staying here. However check in turned out to be quick and efficient with friendly and welcoming staff. When i got to my room it turned out to be very clean and with a very good sea view. I would definitely not only stay again but would recommend to others

The whole of my stay was marred by one issue after another. Check in procedure was very poor and I had to queue for nearly 2 hours. Food was average at best, inedible at worst. General cleanliness in public area was poor. When I could manage to get to reception to make complaints (as was taken up by new guests checking in for most of the day until late evening) I was greeted by disengaged, disinterested staff, who made no attempt to apologise on behalf of the staff. I paid a premium for my room for a sea view, however, there was nothing premium about my room and at best (other than one dirty window with a view) I would consider the room standard, with old, outdated furniture, that was well past it best. The one window didn't open and there was no fan in the room. Had to go to reception twice to complain about this (both times having to wait in a queue for over 1 hour) I was eventually provided with a fan, which I had to assemble myself in a room that was unbearably hot and which had no ventilation. Extractor fan in the bathroom was broke. Complained about this, but it was never resolved. This, by a long way, on every level, is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

The check in system is diabolical, we were in the queue for 2 hours and 20 minutes. The system needs to be reviewed, and could easily be resolved, if someone took the time out to think about it. For example, if arriving on a coach trip, the driver should have in advance the forms that need filling in, and handed out to passengers to fill in ready for when they arrive. The driver should then be dealt with by a dedicated staff member, who will do the necessary and hand room keys out. This system would the leave the desk staff to deal with other customers. Surely this would massively cut the queues down. The rooms are very dated and in need of repair, but we've been before so knew what to expect. While there there was work ongoing but they were using the main entertainment room for storage which meant only a few customers were allowed in the bar area due to the Covid situation. Again this could have been avoided by using one of the other rooms for storage. There was a lot of disgruntled and angry customers, but shouting at the already stressed staff isn't the answer. The whole system needs to be looked at by someone with the authority to change it.
