Strongly recommend

Perfect location for exploring York city, right opposite the Minster, 10 min walk from the station. All the staff we dealt with were very helpful and friendly. Our room was clean and spacious, the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom clean and all the amenities worked well - superb shower pressure! Only two (small) negatives: The restaurant was very good, good food, good service, good ambiance - but we thought very expensive compared to a multitude of good nearby restaurants. (£76 for a two course meal with one drink each). Second negative: Just here and there the decor needs a touch of paint... Overall - I would definitely stay there again.

Good central location

The hotel was close to the centre so only a 5 min walk to shops, bars and cafes. However this did mean it was very loud on a night and morning the drunks and church bells. We emailed 5 months ago requesting a refurbished room and arrived to be shown to an old one. This wasn't a massive disappointment but was a bit of a let down as we had asked so far in advance.
