Dear guest, Thank you for your review. We have a range of rooms here at Mercure Nottingham with our City Pad rooms being the smallest followed by our Standard King rooms. For any guest who either requires or desires ample space we highly recommend our Privilege rooms or suites. As a hotel built in 1822 our floors in some areas do slope. We do not believe this impacts negatively upon a guests experience but am sorry should you feel that it did during yours. I thank you for bringing to my attention the issue you had with your bed. I am sorry to hear you found it uncomfortable and will investigate this with my housekeeping and maintenance team to see whether this mattress requires being replaced. Thank you for your kind comments about breakfast and for choosing to stay with us on this occasion. Kindest regards Chris Butler Hotel Manager

Great location in centre of town.

Ideally positioned hotel in centre of town. Comfortable rooms, decent breakfast and friendly staff. Made use of the lively The Curious Inn under the hotel and the small gym. Discounted car parking at the Lace Market multi-story which is a 2 min walk away.

Great location and lovely quirky hotel

I was impressed with the location and character of the hotel. Not a typical boring chain hotel. I even thought the rooms were tastefully decorated and in keeping with the decor of the hotel. It feels like a boutique hotel. We enjoyed the lost caves bar underneath the hotel and the lost property one (entrance is through an alleyway at the side of the hotel) the bars are definitely worth a visit! My one criticism is connected to the cleaning staff, i thought the bathroom in the room wasn’t cleaned properly. We stayed for 2 nights and found grime and dirt on the replaced hotel toiletries as though the shower had been cleaned with a glove and then the same glove was used to take out the new toiletries. It was all over them and very noticeable. Luckily we had our own shower gel and decided not to touch those ones. They also took away a towel from the room so we only had 1 between 2 people. We called the reception and the cleaning staff brought another towel up 10 mins later, no apology just a ‘here’s your towel’ the cleaning staff and cleanliness of the bathroom really let down this otherwise beautiful hotel.

Dear guest, Thank you so much for your review. May I firstly apologize for the less than impressive housekeeping standards there were experienced. This is certainly far from the high standards we pride ourselves on and for this I do apologize. I thank you for sharing this feedback with us so we can address and resolve these issues immediately. I am delighted you enjoyed all other aspects of the hotel and the bars you mention. Thank you once again for your review. I very much hope we can welcome you back in the future so you can experience us at our usual very best. Kindest regards Chris Butler General Manager

Nice hotel

Pros: Near to everything
Cons: Shower, it was awful, water slow in coming out
Location: Loads to do, Great pubs, eating places, shopping
Nice hotel, location good. Nice breakfast plentiful choice of everything. I have been to hotels where staff have been friendlier.

Situated perfectly

Hotel ok. Bathroom smelt a bit drainy. Situated perfectly for theatre, restaurants, bars. Car park is one minutes walk away but due to one way system in Nottingham is about a 5 minute drive. Def go to car park before hotel.

Tony

I booked a double room and when I went to the room there was not much space .Basically the room was almost occupied with the double bed snd there was no space avaiable. When I asked from the staff, they told me that to get a larger room , I need to pay 10 pounds more to get the standard double room. That is what I did.I did not find the staf of that shift very helpful.

Business trip

As long as you set the satnav to Lace Market car park, and walk to the hotel (avoiding the one way system) your journey should be stress free. The hotel is nice, mixing both modern renovation and retaining some of it's character. Fantastic dinner in the evening, and very friendly staff throughout. City pad room is small, but comfortable with everything you need and a fantastic shower. Wi-Fi, although free, is not great, but it bears the signature of any good hotel you get biscuits to go with you tea - fab!

New Year getaway...

Me & my boyfriend stayed at the Mercure on New Year's Day night. We booked this the day before & got a cracking deal (£40 b&b for 2). We didn't know breakfast was included in the £40 until we got there... This was a nice surprise. The location is fantastic, the car park is a 2 minute walk away & only £10 for 24 hours with the hotel discount (usually £14) which I thought was reasonable. The room was a little small as we stayed in the 'city pad' but we expected this and it was perfect for the one night. Breakfast was FIRST CLASS. As the hotel was quite empty they cooked out breakfast on request rather than the usual buffet... (much better) & the scrambled eggs were amazing. The cold buffet selection was plentiful. There was even an assortment of nuts & seeds to sprinkle on your cereal which I loved. Also, the jams were in individual jars and not plastic. There was also Nutella... What more could you want. The waiter was so polite and well mannered. Definitely an asset to the hotel. One happy couple!! :)

Difficult to find

Great little hotel but really ifficult to find by car due to the one way system in Nottingham. Then when that's parked it is still not straight forward to find the hotel from the car park.
