About this property

Primrose Hall Holiday Near Rutland Water, With an Interesting History

Primrose Hall is a beautifully converted two bedroom cottage in the picturesque village of Empingham which lies half way between Oakham and Stamford, and is walking distance from Rutland Water. Originally a farm building, it was converted in 1883 to be used as a meeting hall for The Primrose League, a political organisation set up by Lord Randolph Churchill in memory of Benjiman Disraeli, using his favorite flower as an emblem. Owners Dale and Helen are justly proud of its heritage and the place it has in the local community. It had previously laid dormant for over 30 years prior to it's conversion and their efforts are evident in the way they go that extra mile to ensure their guests are as comfortable and happy as possible. The cottage extremely well equipped with attention to detail being a priority. A real home from home. You will receive a personal email from Dale prior to arrival with infomation specific to you and a welcome visit on your first evening if you are in, but they will leave you alone thereafter unless required. The infomation regarding local attractions and events are kept up to date and being local, they will always be on hand should you need them. Empingham is a pretty village on the edge of Rutland Water half way between the historic market towns of Oakham and Stamford. It has a shop open 7 days a week, a doctors surgery and a Pub open all and every day. There is a good bus service but a car is advised. Information in the cottage includes sample menus of over 30 independent eateries within ten miles of Primrose Hall, a folder of things to do in the area which is constantly updated with opening/performance times, walks which detail refreshment stops and dog-friendliness, and activities on Rutland Water. Primrose Hall is a fabulous place to stay, not only by it's location but because it is run by a couple who feel a pride in it's history and a desire to ensure guests have a good holiday and share their enthusiasm for the area. It is not grand, just cosy and comfortable.
