My Stay in Oxford

Pros: It is central to Oxford, Good lounge area & seating
Cons: See my comments above. Train your reception staff.
Reception disappointing, a table in the entrance area, staff operating out of cupboard. Staff need training in communication skills. I was kept waiting while they looked for the rooms with no communication to me. I booked two rooms for two nights. Phoned a week ahead to check that one was a double & one a twin. We were given two doubles initially in different blocks. We were finally offered a twin but turned it down. Another person (?was she a member of staff?) sat in a chair in reception was working on a lap top but kept answering the hotel phone using the cupboard as a phone booth, all while I am kept waiting. On checking my bank account I find I have been double charged for one of the rooms. I have to call you to get this sorted. This is not the service I expect from a four star. I have stayed at the Randolph before & will in future.

Dear Guest Thank you for your review, I am very sorry and embarrassed at the lack of welcome you received on arrival, we do have a couple of new members in the team who are still learning and in a couple of cases the English language as well. The desk is a welcome desk and the staff are trained to stand up and greet the guest, I am afraid however due to a major technical problem with the system operated by AccorHotels and a number of other brands throughout the world has crashed on a couple of occasions recently. This has been all of a sudden and not expected, so I am afraid the team have on occasions been almost blind as to what we have available, limited if any access to system and no back-up at the time of the crash, I do apologise. I am sorry you would not wish to return to the hotel again, the Macdonald Randolph is a 5* hotel and has the space and size to offer a variety of bedrooms. I nclosing I thank you again for your constructive feedback, please be assure your concern have and are being addressed. Kind regards Peter Watt General Manager

Good location

The room was tiny. The bed barely wide enough for double occupancy. The Airconditioning was barely functional. The kettle provided in the room didn't work and no replacement was provided in spite of the complaint.

Big let down - not 4* worthy

Pubes on toilet bath mat Moved rooms after first night as fifth room too noisy. Second room far too hot. Staff unable to fix. Cleaning staff left damp cloth on bed and didn't make bed. Also left bottle of cleaning chemicals in the bathroom. No Hair drier in second room - hair drier brought to room but it was broken. Second hair drier brought to room with no apology and with attitude. Asked for glasses to have a drink in our room - we were sent to the bar to wait for them ourselves. Reused mini-jam at breakfast. Must pay extra for parking! All of the above (except for noise which can't be helped) not what we expect for four stars.

Kurztrip nach Oxford England

Das Hotel liegt an der Hauptstrasse in einer Nebenstrasse sehr zentral in Oxford. Von aussen sieht es sehr Englisch aus und macht einen einladenden Eindruck. Die Einrichtung ist sehr gemütlich, sauber und lädt zum gemütlichen Verweilen ein. Die Leute sind sehr freundlich, zuvorkommend und kompetent. Die Zimmereinrichtung ist funktionel, gepflegt und vor kurzem renoviert worden. Das Hotel ist sehr empfehlenswert und macht einen tollen Eindruck.

Loistava kaupunkilomahotelli

Erittäin avulias, puhelias henkilökunta! Maksoimme vähän enemmän ja saimme todella tilavan ulllakkohuoneen. Huoneesta puuttui lähinnä vain oma pieni tallelokero ja käsisuihku. Suihkuhuone oli varustetasolta hieman vanhahtava, erilliset kylmä- ja kuumahanat, ja suihkusta oli hyvin hankala saada sopivanlämpöistä vettä. Säilytystilaa oli runsaasti kaapeissa ja kylpyhuoneessa. Kolmen tähden hotellin huoneeksi mahtava, neljän tähden hotellin huoneeksi hieman nuhruinen. Aamiainen on monipuolinen, tosin vihanneksia sai vain paistettuna. Jos aamiaisen tilasi edellisenä iltana, sen sai kympillä, joka oli ihan kilpailukykyinen hinta.
