Hotel has plenty of character. The room was very clean, with a good sized bathroom which was also spotless

Ok but doubt I will be back

Temperature was very stuffy. There was a wedding going on so could hear the music till the early hours of the morning. Didn't really see any staff except at check in and she was very friendly. Tried to charge me for breakfast that I didn't ask for or have.

Conveniant to the city

The hotel is old but comfortable you can put up with the squicky floor boards but loose loo seats can be put right.

Nice hotel , perfectly placed for Pavilions

Pros: Perfectly placed for the city centre, theatres and the Hoe , Barbican etc
Cons: Maybe a little bit of tlc in some places. The window frames in our room were starting to rot.
We arrived early and were pleasantly surprised that our room was ready ,well before check in time of 2pm. Receptionist was very pleasant. Our room was absolutely huge. I had booked a twin but we had a family room. Very nice. We were going to a show but had a drink in the bar before going across to Plymouth Pavilions. Lots of lovely comfy Chesterfields! Had an early breakfast which was really good. Plenty of choice on both the buffet and the breakfast menu. I will definitely stay here again, although parts of our room are looking a little bit tired

A beautiful historic hotel

We had a beautiful room, much better than expected. A lovely large bathroom with both a bath and a shower. The breakfast was lovely, staff very friendly and the hotel was very clean.

Location: Nice Thai restaurant within walking distance.
Bright airy restaurant where I had breakfast. Very regal rooms. Fascinating to know that Sir Ernest Shackleton had stayed there the night before his trip to the Antartic.

Service level was second to none

My wife and I had just come from a 5 star resort spa and I have to say the level of customer service and the willingness to help was better than any experience we have had in the last 5 years. We will definetly use this hotel again and recommend it to friends and family. Reallu well done.
