A tired building with a new tarmac car park

Pros: The new car park with astro turf islands and marked out placings
Cons: A large investment is needed to make this hotel viable as a seaside resort feature. 100 yards from a sandy beach, this hotel would be in high demand.
Location: The location is good as springboard to the Beacons and exploring the SW peninsular of Wales as we did.
As regular Best Western guests, even on approach, we could not believe the state of the building. Rusty gables, faded building paint. Into reception noticed front doors were not clean, the seals on the double glazing had failed hence cloudy effect. Wife and I took the clanky lift to designated room which on opening the door had a stale and musty smell. Best part we were moved, without complaint, to another floor. The hallways were in better condition; optimistic. The room was better than the other but concerns started when the extractor fan did not start with the lights on in the bathroom, a spot light dangling in the ceiling, not clipped up and one spot not working. Although PAT tested the kettle tripped out. The windows were misted and being on the second floor I am sure the windows should have a restraining bar to prevent climbing out! BUT the bed linen was clean and well presented and beds were comfortable. Day 1 and 2 breakfast plates were cold hence on day 1 all the welsh cooked breakfast was cold. On day 2 the cooked breakfast was warmer. There was a good selection of juice, cereals, continental breakfast items and toast.

Great value hotel

Pros: Location, value, cleanliness, friendliness
Cons: Firmer bed!
Location: Nice sea view, easy access
Bed was too soft for me but other than that this hotel represents terrific value for money. We are in the restaurant and found the standard of cooking to be very good.

Pleasant surprise

From the outside you'd have reservations, but totally different inside. I asked for vegetaRyan sausages and was presented with them shortly after. Will definitely stay again.

Pricey for the price

Pros: Location
Cons: Exteriors and common interiors
Location: Beach...great beach
The hotel is in good location right across the beach but as soon as u see it you get the feeling it has seen better days. We paid £105 for a nights stay in a double room. You sense that it is way too much as soon as u see the hotel. The carpets in the hallways were worn out and gave a dated look. Staff was good. Breakfast excellent. They have a swimming pool which looked good but did not try. The room was spacious and clean. To summarise, it would been great to stay for say 60-70 max. Not anymore than that. Charges are way too high.

Thank you for your comments and im glad you enjoyed your stay. Im not sure where the "worn" carpets are! I think that you must have stayed on a very busy weekend, as the rate are normally slightly lower.

family weekend away

The outside of the hotel looks awful, to be honest but completely different on the inside. Spacious lobby and bar and small swimming pool. The room was clean and comfortable. The only complaint was we paid for a queen bed, but had 2 singles pushed together!

good value for money

On our arrival the receptionist was not aware that the room was pre-paid but did the right thing and promised to check. Rooms are with not much character but spotlessly clean and comfortable. We would have liked a mini bar especially in a hotel so distant from places where one could buy a refreshment. Excellent choice for our purposes.
