Claims to be an upmarket hotel but room was very disappointing. The look was poor, the mini fridge was not stocked, it was extremely hot and had no air con. The shower was poor and the quality of shower gel/shampoo terrible. It has a spa which seems good however it costs around £30 to use it EVEN if you are staying in the hotel! Ridiculous. Overall very disappointing.

A wonderful hotel

The hotel was very nice. Modern, clean and the design was lovely. I would recommend this hotel and i would use it again. For what we paid we received a hotel that was of excellent standard. The lounge and bar areas are upmarket and nicely designed. Happy hour was good value.

Excellent

The staff here are excellent, really helpful. The only downside is that the first room we were in was very noisy, as there was pretty much some sort of function on every evening, so don't stay on the first floor. However when I asked to change room, they had no hesitation in moving us, and we moved to the 9th floor which was much quieter and generally a nicer room and you could open the window although you didn't want to do so for long, as it's so cold! Also the location was slightly further away from town than expected, but was a nice enough walk along the quay.

Great Hotel

We came to Reykjavik for a 3 day break in November. Easy drive from airport to Reykjavik but although the roads in the city are good it is a little bit daunting trying to navigate the road signs/names and get used to driving on the wrong side. We did however find our hotel ok. Lovely reception staff and great hotel, we had an executive room which was really nice and had a view out over the city. Although we used the shuttle bus to get into town the first evening we walked back and forth after that and it was an easy 15/20 minute walk. Hotel breakfasts were lovely, excellent quality and plenty choice to please everyone. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Perfect Hotel for a Weekend in Reykjavik

I was very surprised at the excellence of this hotel given that I have often paid much more for a travelodge or premier inn back in the UK when on business. the staff were fantastic, the room was indeed luxurious with great views and the location was perfect as we hired a car. Free parking, free wifi, a superb breakfast included and lots of amenities in the room. We will most definitely return to this hotel again when back in Iceland and that says a lot as we do not usually go back to the same place twice no matter what the experience. FANTASTIC!!!!

The Grand

I found all the staff very polite and helpful, food is good with a large selection for breakfast ,very tasty evening meal although very expensive. My room was on the 5th floor overlooking the antrium hence no view but as daylight hours are now closing in it was of no concern to me, I went there to see a volcano not gaze out of hotel windows. The room was cleaned and tidied everyday ,nice bed and pillows, close the windows and no noise from antrium, only noise came from inconsiderate guests in other rooms who like dragging their chairs across the wooden floors. The hotel is situated very close to a cross roads with ample buses on both routes which will take you to and from town centre bus terminal for 350 isk. Just around the corner near another large hotel there is a row of restaurants and pizza parlours where the locals eat, should you require food less expensive than the hotel. Cash machine in lobby, which you will need if you buy drinks at the bar. Supermarket approx 5 mins walk behind houses across dual carriageway. all in all a nice hotel and I would stay there again.
