Pros: Central location/ Modern bathroom/ hot water/ breakfast ok only/staff ok. Cons: Bar music next building down on Saturday/hot water smells (sulphur/natural)/ no kettle or tea making facilities in room/breakfast manic not enough tables & no one to seat you. Kettle & tea in all other hotels i stayed at so should be standard. Breakfast staff was nice but it was too chaotic and no tables available.

Nice hotel great location

Nice hotel in middle of Main Street. Beds comfortable. Room way too warm had to switch heating off. Breakfast not great just fruit, bread, ham and cheese. Staff very helpful. If I ever went back to Iceland I would stay here again but wouldn't bother going in for breakfast.

Lovely hotel

We spent one night here before we flew home as our 'usual' hotel was not available. We had a nice big room with all comforts, though the bathroom was on the small side - big enough for one person only though perfectly adequate! We had very little contact with any staff but checking in and out went smoothly and everyone seemed pleasant enough. The typical Icelandic breakfast was good, but we didn't use the restaurant. The hotel is extremely convenient for Reykjavik downtown (5 minutes' walk) and close to all our favoiurite bars and restaurants. Parking can be difficult in the immediate vicinity of the hotel but we used the free car park beside the church. Only downside was the lack of extractor in the bathroom - there was just an open pipe going to the ventilation system (I presume) but no fan or anything and when we returned from breakfast the stuffiness really hit us. I don't know if this was just our room or whether they are all like that but some kind of ventilation would have been good. Otherwise everything was perfect.

Great hotel and location

Great location on the main shopping and bar street. Easy to access all main attractions. A little noisy on the Friday night but it's too be expected in the weekend in a country that loves it's weekends. Good continental breakfast, plenty of meats, cheeses and breads to choose from. Juices, Yogurts, fruit etc did us well but after a few days may become the same old same old. Friendly staff, as everywhere we went in Iceland. Room was clean but not perfect and some of the furniture a little tired. We'd come back.

Family trip

When we arrived the hotel staff at the desk didn't greet us with a hello or even a smile. Everything I said was if I was asking too much and really putting them out. It was 11am when we arrived and I hadn't taken notice of the check in time but it is normal on the UK to be told apologies but check in is at 2.. We have 1 room ready but the other one is not. I would have said no problem at all didn't even check the time and then put the bags back in the car and gone about the day. I just found the customer service below standard and just rude. The location of the hotel is great if you are based around downtown and the shopping streets. The rooms were clean and tidy and had everything that was needed for the stay. Shower in the room was lovely but did have a strong smell of sulphur which was like rotten eggs. Breakfast in the morning was nice - plenty of fruit, bread, cereal and yogurt. The food for lunch and dinner were very nice too and the kitchen staff were very accommodating. All round I would stay here again. You get what you pay for at the end of the say and staff at the desk you can just ignore.
