Quiet Country Retreat

Pros: The bar, food, staff and the bedroom.
Location: Quiet location but just a short distance from Audley End house (English Heritage). IWM Duxford, Cambridge, Newmarket, Bury St Edmunds.
As soon as we arrived to check-in we were made to feel very welcome. We had room 8 a lovely room with a nice sitting area and duck under the beam to the bedroom area with a nice big comfortable bed. We had a nice lunch sitting at the bar and lovely meal in the evening. In the morning we had a very nice cooked to order breakfast. Will definitely stay in this hotel again.

Great hotel

Pros: good value/ super location
Location: Nearby English Heritage and National Trust sites
A lovely country hotel in a really pretty location... Great room, a good English breakfast and helpful staff.

Lovely position overlooking village green

Room smelt of cigarette smoke initially and decor was tired and poorly finished. There was no hot water to have a hot shower in the evening which meant a poor nights sleep as a tepid shower is not conducive to a relaxed sleep. Still have had no response to an email I sent to manager about this! There was only one mug on the hospitality tray so we had to share this, there was no sugar or sweetener. The staff on duty were friendly and willing but obviously had too much to do in the evening. Evening meal was OK only. Overall a disappointing experience which is a shame as it is an area that I am likely to visit again.
