Found some stain on bedsheet and a giant cockroach in the bath tub, though the window was open so it might have flown in.
This place was a surprise - it looks bad from the road, but it's just a typical motel. Although it's run-down, it was clean and functional. Great location - you can walk to Central Santa Monica and the Beach in less than 15 minutes. I was pretty happy with my 5 day stay here.
Not the best, but works in a pinch.Guy in the ‘lobby’ was high when we arrived around 10pm. Saw one cockroach in the bathroom.

No matter if you're planning a long roadtrip with multiple stops, or are just looking for somewhere clean and comfy to rest the head close to major transport links, Santa Monica Motels should have you covered. Originally developed as a convenient place for drivers and truckers to recuperate after long days of driving, these pads have evolved into a mainstay of the global hotel scene. They're known for value and accessibility, perfect if you're watching the pennies and coming with your own set of wheels.
But the budget-bolstering power of Santa Monica Motels isn't where it ends. These interesting little spots can also ooze a curious character of their own. Thanks to the standalone rooms with private access and dedicated car parks, there's a chance you'll be transported back to the retro era of the Americana highways by bedding down in a motel. Or, you could just enjoy the extra flexibility that comes with having a motel – it means you can be the first hitting the road come morning, or the last off it the night you check-in.
Talking of check-in, Motels pride themselves on providing serious privacy, which means getting your keys and hitting the sack should be a simple, quick and easy process. There's no bellboy or concierge, no lift operator or crowd-filled lobby. And, once you have your room, it's yours, free from disturbances and interruptions.
Then there's the added bonus of that on-site parking space. Because these pads are focused on offering beds for travellers who have just whizzed off the junctions of the nearest road, you'll almost always have somewhere to rest the auto in Santa Monica Motels. That usually means somewhere close to your room and within sight.

We stayed at this hotel for seven nights and the staff were great, the hotel is in a good location close to the freeway and has parking availiable opposite the hotel for $5 per night. It is in easy walking distance of all that Santa Monica has to offer. On the down side the pool area is only small ...
Overall Great Stay Hotel is dated, but your paying for the location which couldn't be better. Staff weren't the friendliest in the world and only did the bare minimum when needed.
Overall this hotel was exactly what we were looking for. Santa Monica is more expensive than some of the other beaches but it's a fabulous town, and it was great to be able to stay there. The hotel is clean, friendly staff, no complaints at all to mention. Tiny bit dated but you're right next to ...
