Escape to the country with Somerset Ranches

If you're the sort of adventurer who loves to breathe the fresh outdoor air and really escape from the bustle of urban life when your holidays swing around, Somerset Ranches could be just what you're after. Typically immersed in nature and set far from the crowded city streets, these sorts of stays are a real playground for folk who like to break away from the crowd. Instead of camera-toting groups of sightseers, you'll be sharing your space with herds of horses and cows. Instead of glimmering skyscrapers, you'll wake to visions of rolling fields, undulating hills and verdant woods, and nature at its most relaxing.

That's the reason Somerset Ranches are such a hit with families looking for something a little different to the usual resort. These working farms with on-site rooms promise something really hands-on and engaging. You can opt to help out with day-to-day tasks like rounding up the horses or tying lassos, preparing evening barbecues or mucking in with farm duties. It's all part of the big escape that's on offer with ranch stays.

Luxury where you don't expect it in Somerset Ranches

There are all kinds of perks you can look forward to with Somerset Ranches. In fact, it can often come as a surprise just how deluxe these outdoorsy retreats can be. There's a chance you'll find them with fitness centres, sunning terraces and even spas, while pools can also be found at some ranches. Some will have plush interiors where crackling wood fire illuminate suites with sweeping views over beautiful landscapes. Others will have mouthwatering restaurants that take farm-to-table cooking to all new heights.

Wildlife lovers may be able to get up close and personal with majestic horses, pretty-eyed cows and other animals that call the ranch home. It's also not uncommon to find ranch holidays that have adrenaline-pumping extras on site, whether it's a heart-pounding zipline or an assault course for the kids.

An excellent hotel. Was very impressed with the room lighting and the bathroom. To say we were overlooking the car park we never heard a sound. The only thing I didn't like were the plastic cups wrapped in plastic. I thought everyone was trying to cut down on the use of plastic. We were very happy ...
