Well located hotel in need of refurbishment

Pros: The location.
Cons: The standard is C, but could be an A
Location: Well located on the South side of the city. The best thing to do is to leave it quickly to shake off the depressing playlist vibe.
We stayed in the Tara Towers hotel as it is located quite close to UCD. We parked in the hotel car park, availing of the last space - I could see that parking might be an issue on a very busy night. The staff member on reception checking us in was excellent - a young man. The bedroom was spotless as was the bathroom, and perfect for a one night stay. There was no food available in the hotel that night (we had checked in at 10 pm) and we went off to a local pizza place and got a takeaway which the hotel recommended. Lots of people were eating from this takeaway in the general shared relaxing area that night, so it seemed to be the hotel's way of dealing with late night food requests. The next morning we went to the breakfast room which was a let-down. The food was okayish, not hot enough, the décor very dated, the carpet grotty, the playlist depressing. Instead of leaving the hotel feeling great, we left saying "well, it did for the night, but not a place to return to". The price was E142, including breakfast, which is very competitive for Dublin in the high season, but in reality this hotel has nothing special to offer and needs investment and a professional manager to address its shortcomings.

Convenient for appointments at St. Vincents Hosp.

Pros: Location
Cons: It badly needs to be updated. The windows need to be at least double glazed. The bedroom floor was eneven and "wonky"
Location: I did not get around to avail of the things on offer as I was preoccupied with my operation the next day!
The staff were efficient and courteous. I really only needed a bed for the night as I had to be in the hospital for 7.30 am!

Nice hotel. A wee bit dated. Reasonably priced!

Had a good stay. Food and drink was reasonably priced, and really nice. Reasonably priced for the area also. Would recommend!

Nice hotel but staff can be better

Pros: Confortable
Cons: Staff behaviour (not all of them, mind).
Location: Close to city centre.
Called them in advance on 2 ocasions to confirm iron and ironing board are in the room when I get there, they said 'yes' but it wasn't so I had to call reception twice to get it. Otherwise it was fine, clean and confortable.

Damp cold drafty room

Check in fine. Basic breakfast. Bedroom was cold and damp. Window not sealed properly so breezy. Complained at reception and they gave a dimplex heater. But heater was useless as breeze still coming in constantly.was meant to stay 2 nights but left after one!

Value for money

With the Tara Towers you get what you pay for. It is a value for money, no frills hotel in Dublin 4. The Staff are friendly and the rooms are comfortable and clean. The room was very hot so I had to open the window and the noise from the busy road outside was a bit disturbing. Overall it suited my need perfectly. I will definitely stay there again
