I have stayed at this hotel a few times and never really had reason to complain. The hotel is situated in a great location for St. Albans, Hemel Hempstead and Harpenden. The facilities are good, lovely bar, good food and nice surroundings. On this occasion I asked for a quiet room not near a lift. I was told that unfortunately that was what I had been allocated. The gentleman on reception, Fahim was extremely helpful and said although fully booked to see reception on my return in the evening. The room itself was a reasonable standard apart from the bath which looked like it had seen better days with large chips out of it. On my return I was moved to a room towards the back of the property of which was no where near the standard of the room I had booked. It was very small, the pillows were like mats not pillows and I did not sleep well at all due to the heating not being turned on. I spoke to the lady on reception the following morning, who informed me that the management were aware of the issues I had. She promised she would speak to the manager on my behalf but to date I have still have heard nothing. In my opinion the sanitaryware in some rooms need to be addressed as well as the pillows and in the rooms to the back of the hotel need updating. I will be questioning where I should stay within the next few weeks as I will be travelling to the area again.

The toilet bowl in the room had a crack and chip in it an the beds were not secured together causing them.to come apart and us to hang down them in the night. There were two of us and we were only given one large towel and one small towel.

Wonderful private Hotel - the recent 2018 make over is pleasing and offers Guests great services at good prices. One small point Beds in both of the executive rooms we booked were single divans as a doubles they need to be replaced as in both cases left side higher than right...

Would definitely stay again

The room was perfect for a weekend away. Everything you could need was supplied and the cleaning staff cleaned and freshened the room each morning. Close to shops and easy enough to get to nearby shopping centres, safari park and Harry Potter studio.
