Hotel focuses on non-hotel guests at expense of hotel guests. Hotel lounge fully booked out to locals coming for Afternoon tea, with no where to sit for hotel residents. Spa manicly busy and so, not peaceful or relaxing. Sauna not even.hot. Showers smell. Steam room has no menthol smell. Bullying bistro restaurant managers, rude and disrespectful to staff and guests. Poor service, more akin to Travelodge.

Nice hotel. Cocktail bar is not that great

Rooms clean. Breakfast ok (what you would expect from hotel buffet. Cocktails in bar not amazing. Spa is adequate, didn't do treatments. Luxury but not uber luxury. I would go back

jaccuzi too small, steam not working!

Pros: Friendly staff, food fantastic clean rooms all great apart from spa as mentioned.
Cons: very expensive, went there specially for spa experience. One tiny jaccuzi waited half hour to use, steam room ( our favourite) was not working but you could sit in there! I took my partner there for his birthday this was upsetting especially as it is supposed to be a spa break.
Location: The location is nice good for shopping and restaurants.

Just so nice

Pros: Spa, pool, food, lovely staff and the place looks great
A lovely spa hotel. Great for a short break. Grounds, facilities, rooms and food were excellent. Staff were efficient and nice.

Lovely hotel, very busy

Location: Near St Alband The Verulamium Lovely local walks Beautiful grounds
We booked the hotel to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary as we held our wedding reception there. We were dismayed on arrival that we were unable to book the restaurant for dinner as it was fully booked, unless we wanted to eat after 9PM. However, later, an extremely helpful member of staff booked us a table in the brasserie, and even gave us a free glass of champagne then and there (I had been in tears), and after our lovely dinner, we were given a very nicely decorated plate with chocolate pudding with 'happy anniversary' written on a piece of chocolate. The swimming pool, sauna and spa were lovely. Suggest you arrive as early as you can for booking in so can take advantage of this (I would have been in it all afternoon!) Unfortunately, the air conditioning went on and off all night, without us turning it on. We woke up at 5AM and called reception. A man was sent up and turned it off (we told him we had been doing this constantly), and didn't wait long enough to find out that it came on again v quickly! Sunday Times not brought to room in morning, and in fact had not been entered onto the computer, despite the receptionist being told twice on booking in. Breakfast lovely, though dining room and overflow conservatory VERY full up, busy and noisy. I wouldn't recommend this to people who would like a quiet weekend away from it all, though the grounds are lovely. Overall we enjoyed our stay, once our evening meal had been sorted! The bed was very comfortable and shower fab!
