The building is beautiful but inside is tired and scruffy. We were in the attic in a small room that had doors to the eaves that had been taped closed but kept opening. When we arrived a plumber was fixing the toilet which didn’t work properly the whole time we were there. I asked to be moved but they said they couldn’t move us. No lift so loads of stairs to climb.

Beautiful old manor, room was basic which was fine, bathroom very old, bad plumbing smell off sewage often wafted in our window, the breakfast was plentiful and nothing a bother too the staff off this hotel, extremely helpful, price for staying here a week was good compared too other places, the housekeeping was a joke they would chap the door and asked if you needed anything said because off covid they wouldn't be cleaning the toilet etc, which I found a joke considering none of them wore a mask if they were that concerned 😞

When you go down the drive and see the building initially, it looks grand and impressive. On closer inspection, certain aspects look haggard and need attention. We booked a family room for two adults and a child and it was far too small, we never unpacked our luggage fully as there was not sufficient space to store it, which meant we needed to manoeuvre the luggage around the room continuously in order to get ready and dress etc. In the room. The housekeeping never cleaned the sink during our stay, this became quite noticeable. The breakfast is ok and the staff that served breakfast were friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is really good as are the grounds and parking spaces are plentiful. I think this property is newly acquired hence I’m sure it will improve in time but the small room truly marred the experience of the stay. However, St. Ives is great and we did enjoy the experience overall.

This property is an amazing old style Manor House. A great base to explore the coastal walks taking in the beautiful beaches of St Ives. The room was small but compact had a slight problem on arrival but was sorted very quickly. Breakfast was nice too

The property is gorgeous on the inside, views are amazing. However, the economy rooms could use some work love but it does seem as though they’re slowly working on improving the hotel.

First the good things. Beautiful old house set in mature gardens in great location. Short walk to Porthminster beach in one direction and a little more to Carbis Bay in the other. Breakfast was good. Manager did his best to be helpful. Now the bad. We booked a triple room with a double and single bed and it was very small. There was a bedside table on one side of the bed but no room for one on the other as it would have blocked the door. There was a wardrobe and chest of drawers but no chair or suitcase stand and nowhere to put them if there had been. There was a label on the radiator saying not to use it as it was broken. The decor was tired and the walls were thin. We could hear next door. Room did not look like the photo on web site. We heard several others complaining that the room was not of the standard they expected. At least 2 of those left early. Manager said it was an old house and every room was different so photos are of the best ones. Don't assume that's what you'll get. This was not the 4 star experience it was sold as and overpriced at more than £200 per night.
