Perfect area for everything we wanted!

My husband and I arrived from Scotland after about 33 hours of traveling. We arrived at the Travelodge at 7am and understandably there wasn't a room available at that time. However, the friendly girl at reception was very helpful and completed all the paperwork so we didn't have to later. We were able to store our luggage in the room next to reception and went for a wander which was absolutely amazing and lovely and quiet because of the time of day. After a great walk round the Botanic Gardens them The Rocks and Chinatown we arrived back at the Travelodge at about 11:45am. There still wasn't a room ready but shortly after the receptionist came over to let us know a room was available. We were very pleased to get into a room earlier than the stated 2pm check-in! The room was basic as we expected (perhaps more basic and cheap than other Travelodges we've stayed in) but it did the job. A couple of little bug-bears: (1) there was only one bedside table, presumably because the room is interchangeable between a queen bed and twins, but there really should be a bedside table on each side (2) there was mould in the shower room and the cleaner clearly didn't clean the floors - I know this because there was a blob of toothpaste on the floor for our entire stay of 2 nights. I also think with it being Sydney and a lot of walking may be done, a small bath would have been much better so the feet could be soaked. The location was excellent. It was out first visit to Australia and I'd originally looked into staying in The Rocks/Sydney Harbour Bridge area but it was too expensive so settled for a bit further away. I'm so glad I did. In my view, a visit to the bridge is obviously a must but you're not going to do this every day! The location of the Travelodge was good in that we could still walk there but we were much closer to the likes of Darling Harbour and Cockle Bay (10 minutes walk), Chinatown (2 minutes walk) and Oxford Street (5 minutes walk). There was also WiFi in the lobby although the data allowance was restricted which was annoying because it was 100Mb per room and not per device. However, there is a great little pub (Harry's Hotel) across the road with free WiFi and great beers. All in all, I would recommend this accommodation based on location. We got a great price - £60 per night - but I wouldn't spend any more than that on it. There's a nice looking Vibe Hotel nearby I'll be looking into if I can't get a good deal on the Travelodge for our last 3 nights in Sydney.

Convenient.

The hotel is in a convenient position near Hyde Park It takes approximately 15 minutes to walk from the hotel to Circular Quay. Central railway station is around 10 minutes walking time away.

Not an enjoyable stay!!

While the location is good, it is very over priced. Staff were incredibly rude. Not helpful at all. I moved to Sydney so I stayed here until I found an apartment to live in. If i was on a holiday I would have left. I asked a very rude lady at reception how much would it be to extend for 1 night (only reason being I found an apartment but couldn't move in till the next day and didn't want to drag 4 suitcases around the city.) She told me $190 dollars for one night. Went online and it was $90 HUGE difference, Not happy at all, very disappointed in there staff at reception. For the price you pay you would expect more.

Great location!

The hotel is located a short walk from busy George Street and is ideal for those looking to be close to the city and those who may be travelling on a budget. Landmarks close by include Darling Harbour, Chinatown, the Town Hall and all major shops. While the room was a little small, it did include a kitchen area with all plates and cutlery, sink, microwave and a fridge. The bed was comfortable with little outside noise heard. The TV offering included most major digital channels and Fox Sports.

Very Good location, very good value

I havent been to Sydney for 5 years, so I wanted a central hotel and this was perfect location. It is walking distance from Museum station (which is on the same line as the airports) and you can walk to Central station and all locations in the CBD from here. Room was good, clean, no probs. The bathroom is slightly strange - more of a shower room, but very usable. There is a bag storage area by reception should you need to store backs before/after checkout. My only wish was you could check in earlier. 2 - 3pm is too late when you've been on several planes for a day or so and you arrive early morning. I would stay here again.
