Lovely staff. Decor very dated. Bed comfortable. Room small. Bathroom ok. Breakfast amazing. Dinner was ok, but buffet style, although nice to have the option, as eating out every night would break the bank. Fresh waffles and hot drinks in the afternoons a great idea for when you get back from a day tour. Open air jacuzi a great amenity to have, with air freezing but water boiling. Room cleaning not the best. Overall ok, considering the price with meals compared to other hotels in Tromso. Would probably try their sister With hotel across the road next time as looks newer and nicer.

Pros: Tromso is very expensive to dine out, so a complimentary evening meal was a very welcome bonus. Salads, soup and rolls plus a main course.
Cons: Tea and coffee facilities in rooms
Location: Close to harbour, bridge across to mainland and cable car. Convenient walking distance to museums and local shops.
Very conveniently located to harbour for Northern Lights experience.

Northern Lights outside hotel

Pros: Northern lights right outside + breakfast!
Cons: More amenities to be provided in the hotel?
Location: Great location, just outside is the bus 42 from the airport and close to shopping street/ other hotels for pick-up.
We managed to see the Northern lights outside the hotel! It was fantastic. - Breakfast selection was great - Hotel rooms are very basic, no tissue paper, no toothbrushes, no slippers etc. But beds were comfortable and good enough for a short stay - Light evening meal only has one main and soup which changes up, the salads stay the same. Mains were pretty alright. Nothing fancy. - Afternoon tea was the waffles, with only 1 waffle machine. Good to try once. - Jacuzzi and sauna were alright!

Faultless for what it is

If you want a clean (very good three star) hotel with friendly staff, this is the place for you. It couldn't be better located and if you're lucky you will see the northern lights from the roof top jacuzzi. There is free wifi, free use of the gym/sauna and free tea & coffee day and night. Sounds like a small thing but the takeaway coffee was far better than paying £5 for one when you're out! A corporate event meant the hotel was very busy for the last day but all in all we were impressed with our four night stay at the Bryggen. Would highly recommend.

Great location

Lovely hotel and friendly helpful staff. Hot tub on the roof was a big plus as was the sauna, both included in the price. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

Great location, nice hotel

Nice little touches like having lots of candles lit in the foyer each night and access to hot drinks 24 hours a day. Good breakfast, although service doesn't start until 8am, which was a problem on the day I needed to leave at 8.10am for a whale watching trip. The reception staff were helpful, although a couple of them were quite slow! Comfortable room, although no storage for clothes so I had to lay them all out on the luggage rack - except my underwear, which I kept in a plastic bag! I'd reserved and paid for a room with a double bed but was told there were none available. Luckily I had written proof of my booking and upon challenging, I was allocated a room with double bed on the 5th floor. Best thing of all about this hotel is its fantastic central location.

Northern Lights Mini Break

Stayed at the Bryggen for 4 nights at the beginning of March 2013 and I would highly recommend it. Really good location with many of the mueseums and sights within ten minutes walk / slide away. (it was very icy when I went!). Pity that most rooms do not have great views but then I'm not one for wanting to stay inside a hotel room - out and about is my motto. Room very nice, bed amazingly comfortable - just lacking tea & coffee facilites - I know they were freely available in the hotel lobby - but after a few hours hunting the lights you want to get back to your room, snuggle into your pj's and have a brew. I'm not sure about other hotels in the area - maybe tea & coffee facilites are not a standard thing in Norway, so I hope I'm not judging unfairly. All staff were extremely helpful and friendly - they booked all of my trips for hunting the lights (I saw a really impressive display my first night there - really lucky I know!) and gave me great advice on what buses to use and when - could not fault them. Breakfast was a really impressive spread. Definitely recommend.

Tromso Hotel

We were well looked after by attentive staff at a hotel that was comfortable and kept in a clean and tidy condition. Breakfast buffet was plentiful and good quality. The lounge lacked atmosphere in the evenings and as with most hotels the bar is overpriced £11 (92 NOK) for a can of local beer. Location is good on the waterfront although it is a pity there was no view from the room whcih faced the goods yard.
