Uzbekistan Airways is the national state airline of Uzbekistan, based in Tashkent. It was created in 1992 by the government of Uzbekistan following the dissolution of the Soviet Union and initially took over the aircraft of the Uzbekistan division of Aeroflot and later leased Airbus aircraft. It operates scheduled flights to more than forty destinations in the world, including cities in America, Europe, the Middle East, central and south-east Asia and the Commonwealth of Independent States. Uzbekistan Airways operates a fleet of 34 aircraft out of Tashkent Airport, making it the largest in central Asia. A no-frills airline, it aims to offer value for money on its internal and international routes.
Passengers in Economy Class on Uzbekistan Airlines flights can enjoy a complimentary meal and drinks service on international flights. On domestic flights there are complimentary non-alcoholic drinks and, depending on the route, light snacks. If you prefer not to watch the film on offer, bring a book or magazine, relax and enjoy your economy flight, and rest assured that you will be getting good value for money as well as arriving at your destination safely and on time. If you regularly travel with children, you will know all about bringing plenty of activities and entertainment to keep them occupied. If you are travelling with babies or infants on a Uzbekistan Airlines flight, you can get tickets for children under two years for one-tenth of the adult fare, and there are good discounts for children aged two to twelve.
Business-class passengers on a flight with Uzbekistan Airways are entitled to pre-departure lounge access and complimentary meal and drinks service on board. The leather seats have more legroom than in economy class, and you are provided with individual laptop power ports and the use of an iPad which comes pre-loaded with videos, music, games and magazines. Audio entertainment channels are also available. The airline’s main purpose is to deliver travellers to their destination efficiently, safely and on time, and they have a good record on this. Consequently the main focus is not on luxurious amenities, but the basics are covered with catering, entertainment and a travel pack which includes pillows and blankets, slippers, an eye mask and shoehorn. You can relax and enjoy the flight, knowing you will arrive at your destination on time. Business-class passengers are taken to a separate terminal on arrival with the aim of a speedy passage through immigration.
