    The hotel was only a big scam from the start! Just a robbery! When I arrived the man in the lobby said that I did not pay for the hotel even though I had the receipt that sid i payed on advance. After showing him he gave me the keys for the room and said he would show his manager the the recipt. When checking out another man insisted that I would pay even though I had the receipt. He would not even concider that I would have paied even with paper proving my point. They wouldn't accept credit cards obviously for a good reason. I did not havt any JOD so he wanted 50 €. Im not sure if it's fair at this point for 40JOD. The staff were unhelpfull, disrespectfull and were often sleeping in the lobby couch. My first room had electricity problems from loose wires, after turning on the light bulb a big electric spark came and the room electricity went out for good. I did not know that and was lucky to not get shocked. The second room was worse with no view, unproperly cleaning, used towel, no drain plug and mold. This is unacceptable! 1/10 just a big robbery.

    Certainly not the luxury propagated online. Scam.

    My first really negative review of a hotel yet I feel that I need to warn fellow travellers. * Upon arrival, it took more than 20 minutes for someone to show up while we were waiting in front of the locked hotel door; * We were told that there was no reservation under our name and the hotels.com booking reference was never received by the hotel. Petra was fully booked at least for the first night of our stay so at almost 1AM we were not in a good position to negotiate when we were told there only was one room left. Negotiation followed and suddenly another room was available. * The hotel then ‘generously’ offered us the same rate as stated by hotels.com. * We paid and went up to the fourth floor, passing through a very smelly and worn out restaurant. The rooms on the 4th floor that we saw had nothing to do with the *luxury* rooms shown on various hotel booking websites. * Mould and moisture are a MAJOR problem, electrical wires hanging down from largely dysfunctional power plugs are a safety threat. * I cannot recommend this place at all. We left the next day and moved into another hotel. * 6 days after our stay we received a note from hotels.com checking with us if we had changed plans and did not show up at the hotel. The extent of this scam just became more obvious at that point. Note: rooms on other floors may be different as per reviews published here and elsewhere. As to the 4th floor, please keep away for your own health and safety.

    We had two rooms booked at Petra Knights but they had overbooked so sent us to an 'upgrade' at another hotel. The other hotel was a complete disaster (Alanbat hotel). Petra Knights said they would make up for this by upgrading us for a second night at their hotel. The rooms we got were very average (one of the rooms had no fridge or kettle etc). However, they did have comfortable beds and were quiet. If booking this hotel I'd recommend not letting them send you to the other hotel (there were about 12 people who had been moved like us, so clearly it wasn't a once off).
