Booked for 3 nights two separate bookings as we wanted to arrive a day early. A top of the range feature room and an executive room. Emailed the hotel in advance to notify them so they could join the bookings together , which they did not so that caused an issue with keycards not working and bill to room issues. Also asked for a separate bath and shower in advance of which several feature rooms had but this also did not happen. Do not seem to read pre arrival emails. On arrival check in staff were lovely and Martin the meet and greet general porter was an absolute delight. Without him i would have scored the property rather less. Neither rooms heating or ac worked. Martin bought us a desk fan and opened the windows as the feature room was a bit musty, but it was a cold damp weekend and the room was cold . The room was large and comfy but very tatty with sash windows that did not shut properly and wind that whistled through them at night. The skirting and paintwork and carpet were scruffy as was the sofa that had flat cushions . The four poster and mattress were comfy. The bathroom was shower over bath . The safe was good. Breakfast was great. The bar staff were less friendly, I got barked at because they had not linked our stay and was very embarrassed in front of other guests when they told us we had not got a room to charge drinks to. We left a night early because of the issues despite having paid in advance, we did not want to stay another night.

Feels like the proverbial posh hotel

Pros: Genuine character. Made to feel special by staff.
Location: Easy no-stress links to city centre.
If you want to feel like you're staying in the Ritz this is the hotel for you. Don't expect everything to look brand new. Oatlands Park has history and I wouldn't change a thing.
