Lovely hotel, great bar that overlooks the lake. Family room was very far away, advertised as a bedroom and a lounge and was just one big bedroom which isn’t great with a baby as you have to go to sleep when the baby goes to sleep. Apparently there are other rooms that are split but we didn’t get one which was infuriating. The phone in my room wasn’t working which again wasn’t great as you had no communication with the hotel. Shame as we would of had a lovely stay apart from this. Informed reception but they just said oh sorry, not good enough really when your paying a lot of money.

We travelled with a toddler. My son needed his food taken care of by way of refrigerating it and later warming up. Although the hotel wasn’t permitted to warm the food using their microwave ovens, they did on two occasions provide hot water to warm food up. Staff in particular will went to the trouble of doing that for us. We were truly grateful.

We stayed at this hotel for our 5th year anniversary for a nice Romantic weekend away. We arrived on the Friday and went home on the Sunday. The hotel decor is lovely and it’s in the perfect location to Bowness and any boat trips you may have planned. I had already pre-ordered the champagne package (champagne, flowers and chocolates) to be set to our room as a surprise for my husband. Ok maybe not the flowers as that was more for me!!! Unfortunately everything but the champagne was in the room which was a bit pointless really but after we unpacked we spoke with reception and asked for it to be cancelled as it was now a pointless surprise. The reception was happy to cancel but his professionalism was nothing less than appalling. He immediately commented ‘I know exactly who to blame’!!! I’ve been in customer service all my life and have always been thought to apologise, rectify the situation and deal with any staff issues ‘behind the scenes’. It was just disgusting. Unfortunately the weekend didn’t get much better. The hotel had 3 weddings on over the 3 days and their focus on keeping wedding parties happy is far superior to keeping general weekend guests happy. I understand that weddings are a special day but ‘we’ and other guests also paid a lot of money to stay here and to have restricted access to outside areas, lounges and restaurants which was a huge impact on guests is just not good enough. Nice hotel but I wouldn’t go back!
