Nice hotel but a little bit dated, bedroom was a good size and bathroom was excellent, safe in the room was faulty I was told they would get an engineer to fix it but that never happened, no hairdryer in the room and had to ask three times before one was provided. Restaurant was sadly a big let down the breakfast size was tiny (baked bean came in one of those little pots other restaurants would give you ketchup in) evening meal menu does not change day to day so if like us you go half board the options are very limited (only one vegetarian option) waiters were friendly enough but seemed in constant fear of getting moaned at by the management (which was a lot and for no good reason) Would I stay here again, yes as it’s in a great location but I would find alternative eating arrangements

Ideal location and friendly staff

The staff were really helpful and we even got a free upgrade. The spa was excellent and staff very helpful. Breakfast was really good, excellent selection and hot food cooked perfectly. Only issue was prices of food, drinks and parking but found free parking a short walk away and plenty of nice pubs and eating places nearby

Nice view of the lake

Hotel well situated, spa facilities excellent breakfast really good however there were no robes in our room which should have been supplied and the shower in our bathroom was very poor due to lack of water pressure. We used the shower in the spa changing rooms which really we shouldn't have had to do. A little disappointing as hotel stay was a special birthday present.

Excellent location, wonderful staff.

Pros: Location, right on the lake, great views, good looking hotel, excellent staff, all staff friendly.
Cons: We found the food and drinks expensive, and small portions. No air-con in rooms, though we did have a fan.
Location: Right next to the front where boat rides can be taken to Ambleside and other places. A good central "lakes" base. Bars and restaurants very close.
Brilliant understanding staff who catered to our changing needs effectively and in a friendly manner despite being very busy with their other responsibilities. We had a disabled family member who unfortunately was unable to make the most of the superior room they were in. Between them, Agata and Ahmed facilitated a room swap, whereby one of our two rooms was swapped for the disabled room, and we moved into the room they vacated (because it had a better balcony view than our already very nice balcony room). 4 people swapping and changing rooms was a bit of a logistical challenge but between us it was organised as quickly as it could possibly have been. It meant we were able to enjoy a further 2 days at the hotel, when initially it looked as though we would have to curtail our break. Restaurant staff were also very helpful in locating a suitable table and moving chairs to accommodate the wheelchair. We pulled the alarm in the disabled room by accident (!), and despite us pressing reset to cancel it we were impressed when a staff member arrived within a minute to check on the situation. It gave us a great feeling of security that should the alarm be pulled in a genuine emergency that help would be on hand swiftly.

Fantastic Location and Amazing Staff

Pros: Location and customer service
Cons: some areas are being modernised, so avoid these rooms if you can
Location: AMAZING!!!
We stayed for 2 nights as part of an Anniversary trip and were delighted with our experience. We asked about a room upgrade and were offered a fantastic room with Lake views by Ahmed on reception. The room was superb and Ahmed very kindly sent a bottle of Prosecco to our room courtesy of the hotel, which was a very kind and considerate gesture. All of the staff we met were very polite and positive which contributed to a great holiday. Breakfast, evening drinks, fantastic room, amazing views, location, and the SPA were all first class.

Great location. Staff argued parking was not free

Arrived at the hotel very early, we thought parking was included in the price but we couldn't find the car park so parked directly outside the main entrance. The lady at reception was slightly rude and blunt and told me there is no way parking was free and it was £20 per night and that they would valet park my car. I just agreed and thought I'd challenge it when checking out. The hotel itself was brilliant, central location, bar was great, breakfast was spot on. The room however was not a lake view which was disappointing but we did pay the cheapest price which was around £200! At checkout we had to argue with the receptionist to save £20 on parking, as we had the booking printed off it said in black and white "parking included". So they had to give it us. They said booking through an agent - Ebookers - doesn't mean free parking. Overall the hotel was good but this problem put a slight downer on the experience and we didn't feel we got our value for money.
