Flights from Bangkok
In recent years, flights from Bangkok, both domestically and internationally, have been transferred to the newly built Suvarnabhumi Airport. This new major terminal for air traffic, both out of and into Thailand, is home to a full range of the amenities and services that are expected of a modern international airport, including shopping and dining.
Getting to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport
Suvarnabhumi Airport can be reached by road from the city centre in Bangkok, as well as from the surrounding region. For road transport, the recommended links to the airport include the public bus service, as well as taxi and shuttle services. Given the recent construction of the airport, it is likely that further transport links to the airport will be developed in the coming years.
A number of bus services take passengers to the bus terminal at the public transportation centre at the airport, including bus routes from the Southern bus terminal in Bangkok and from the On-Nut Skytrain station. Shuttle buses from local hotels, privately hired taxis, and a more expensive limousine service, all have drop-off points on the departures floor at the airport. Drivers can also find long-term parking near the public bus terminal.

Chiang Mai Airport
Chiang Mai Airport (CNX) is the point of arrival for visitors flying to northern Thailand. Located five miles south-west of downtown Chiang Mai, the airport handles service on a large number of carriers, including Thai Airways, Singapore Airlines, AirAsia, Bangkok Airways, and One-Two-Go. You can save money and time by booking your flights with ebookers.
Ground Transport at CNX
You can arrange through ebookers to have a rental car waiting for you at CNX. The airport hosts Avis, Budget, and Hertz rental companies at the service counters on the first floor. Taxis are available, as are more exotic modes of transport, such as songetaws and tuk-tuks. These typically charge 120 baht for a ride to anywhere in the city, but only fifty baht for the return trip. Many hotels will agree to pick up this expense for a guest, although you should check with your hotel in advance.
The Climate in Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai is a tropical holiday hotspot and enjoys a climate typical of southern Asia. December averages a temperature range of 15-30°C, with clear skies and very little to no rain. Temperatures rise through the spring and peak in April at about 23-37°C, with up to six inches of rain. Thailand actually cools somewhat near the end of summer, but the rainfall increases steadily until reaching its peak in August and September at around ten inches.
Chiang Mai's Attractions
Chiang Mai welcomes millions of visitors every year and always seems to have something special to offer them. It's a good idea to conduct your research and set up your holiday itinerary with ebookers to make the most of your trip. Some visitors to the area enjoy the quirky attraction of seemingly endless local schools set up to teach tourists the art of Thai cuisine, such as the Thai Orchid Cookery School. Others prefer more exotic fun and a trip to the Flight of the Gibbon adventure park, where you can zip-line through the jungle canopy at a height of fifteen stories.
