What you can expect

Ayodhya is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Rama and the setting of the epic Ramayana. It is adjacent to Faizabad in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. This town is closely associated with Lord Rama. Ayodhya allegedly is 9,000 years old and was founded by Manu, the first man in the Vedas, and law-giver of the Hindus. Skanda Purana lists Ayodhya as one of the seven most sacred cities of India. It is the backdrop for much of Hindu scripture. Ayodhya is 150 km from Lucknow covering the distance in 3 hours.

ITINERARY:

  • Pick up from the hotel/residence in Lucknow.

  • You will be visiting the following places:

  • Rama Janma Bhoomi :-Temple of Lord Rama. The 7th avatara (incarnation) of Lord Vishnu, Lord Rama is believed to be born here.

  • Hanuman Garhi Temple :-Hanuman Garhi is an ancient temple situated in the centre of the town, which houses a statue of child Hanuman seated at the lap of mother Anjani. There is a belief that Hanuman lived here in a cave and guarded the Janam bhoomi of Ram.

  • Ramkot :-It is main place of worship in Ayodhya.Ram Navami, the day of Lord Ram’s Birth, is celebrated with great pomp and fervor in the Chaitra month of the Hindu calendar that falls between March and April.

  • Ramkatha Museum :-The Ramkatha Museum was established in Ayodhya in 1988. This museum is engaged in collection, preservation and conservation of antiquities related to the storey of Lord Rama.

  • Kanak Bhavan :-It is also known as Soneka Ghar. Kanak Bhawan was built in 1891 by the Queen of Tikamgarh, Vrishbhanu Kuvari. The temple has images of Lord Ram and Sita wearing gold crowns enshrined inside the Garbhagriha.

  • Mani Hill and Sugriv Hill :-Mani Hill has an ancient stupa that is believed to have been built by Emperor Ashoka while Sugrivparvat is believed to be an ancient monastery.

  • Tulsi Smarak Bhawan :-It was built in the memory of Goswami Tulsi das and is used for prayers, meetings and religious discourses. It also houses the ‘Ayodhya Shodh Sansthan’, where a large collection of literary works on Swami Tulsidas can be seen.

  • Treta Temple :-It is an ancient temple. It is believed that at this place Lord Rama had performed the Ashvamedha Yajnya also known as Kaleram Temple.

  • Nageshvarnath Temple :-The Temple of Nageshwarnath is said to have been established by Kush the son of Rama. It is said that this has been the only temple to have survived till the time of Vikramaditya.

  • Drive back to Lucknow.
