What you can expect

Spend a morning indulging in traditional specialities while discovering the culture of the Asian side of Istanbul. Take advantage of a small-group setting of up to 12 food enthusiasts so you can have more personal attention from your local guide.

Meet your guide at the famous Gulluoglu Baklava shop in Karakoy and walk the area as you hear about the history of this place, one of the oldest districts of Istanbul. Karakoy is also famous for its authentic eateries. Sit down for a traditional breakfast at Ozsut before boarding the ferry to Kadikoy.

Explore the lively cosmopolitan district of Kadikoy as your guide explains its background as an ancient and Byzantine Chalcedon. This is where the Ecumenical Council met in the 5th century A.D. to bring the ecclesiastical chaos to an end.

Continue to the fish market and meander through the different stalls, encountering many new tastes of a different kind of Turkish cuisine. Pause for a stop at a local delicatessen and try Kadikoy’s pudding or a famous baklava.

It’s then time to indulge in an authentic Turkish main course at the famous Ciya Restaurant. Top it off with a coffee at the Turkish Coffee House before heading to Karakoy by ferry where your tour comes to an end.
