What you can expect

Set out in a refitted amphibious Vietnam War vehicle from Lower Water Street and weave through city centre Halifax. From your seat on the covered deck, enjoy humorous and informative stories as you make your way to the harbour for a cruise of both by Halifax and Dartmouth.

Your tour starts on land, as you drive by landmarks in Halifax’s city centre historic district. Pass St Paul’s Cathedral—the city’s oldest building dating back to 1749—and the first Anglican cathedral built outside of England. Capture views of Citadel Hill, where Fort George sits as a symbol and tribute to Halifax’s key naval role during the British Empire. Pass by Halifax Public Gardens, a stunning Victorian-era garden where you can catch glimpses of linden and elm trees, wrought-iron gates, statues, and exotic and semitropical flowers.

Then hold on as you plunge into the waters of Halifax Harbour, your vehicle switching into boat mode as you cruise by the waterfront, navy ships, and submarines. Learn about the 1917 Halifax Explosion, the city’s naval fleet, and Halifax’s role during times of both war and peace. While making your way back to the pier, you might hear an anecdote about the supposedly haunted Five Fisherman's Restaurant, or see the mysterious face in the window at St. Paul's Cathedral that appeared after the Halifax Explosion.
