This extremely interesting tour conveniently starts with a pick up at your Khao Lak resort in the middle of the morning, meaning you don't have to jump out of bed too early AND you will have time to enjoy your resort's breakfast too.

Because cashew nuts are a very important crop in the south of Thailand, we will begin the day with a quick visit to a local cashew nut factory. Here you will be educated in an industry that is the main income for many families in Khao Lak. You may also wish to make one or two purchases here to nibble on throughout the day.

Prepare yourself for a journey to the long lost zone of, “Little Amazon,” a hidden Banyan Tree forest near Takuapa. Canoeing under the canopy of the giant Banyan tree forest is both peaceful and serene. Make your way to a Nipa Palm forest where you will hear the songs of local birds along the Klong Sung Nae River.

This will be followed by a delicious Thai lunch and a visit to a fresh market in the town of Takuapa. You will then change vehicles and travel to Takuapa Old Town by 'Songteow' (a local Thai taxi which is an simple, open air pick up with a row of seats along each side). Here, see the traditional life and culture of this small and historical town which has remained nearly unchanged for more than a hundred years. Witness the period style buildings, small coffee shops, and of course, the most famous part of Takuapa, the old tin mines and factories that were closed in the 1920's.

After sightseeing around Takuapa Old Town you go to two very different temples - A Thai Buddhist temple and a Chinese temple. Before being transferred back to your Khao Lak resort, enjoy the experience and taste of the local Thai “Café Boran”. (Expected time of arrival back at your hotel will be between 3.30pm. and 4.00pm.).
