Great hotel. Had a great 2 night stay the weekend before Christmas. We are usually in Ambleside during the summer when it is very busy. At this time of year it was a lot quieter and we were able to enjoy it even more because of that. The hotel itself was busy though which was also good. Can't fault the hotel at all, very smart and clean, friendly staff, great breakfast, you could pretty much have whatever you wanted and there was a great selection, good spa facilities. Our room was great, we were in Langdale, big room with kitchen facilities if needed, good bathroom with heated floor and spa bath and separate shower and rainshower, balcony with hot tub overlooking the stream, room had all the facilities that you would require. Will be staying here again and we never usually return anywhere. Excellent.

Short trip to the Lakes

Pros: See the above
Cons: The lift
Location: Ambleside is a busy place.
Convenient location - but too far to walk to the boat cruises Small car parking and tight fit but just about adequate Very friendly and helpful staff Breakfast - very good Rooms - first one shown to us was small and dark. Second one was better - but it was an upgrade. Lift temperamental Old building with creaky floors but modern facilities in the bathroom

Comfortable central location

Pros: Very well organised and spotless
Cons: Dinner menu
Location: Lovely walks, central for lakes and fells.
Everything you would expect from a top class hotel. Food and wine menu could be a little more ambitious.

A comfortable spa hotel in the Lake District

Pros: Spa facilities. Friendly staff. Nice and clean. Big room. Secure parking.
Cons: The waste water pipe from the room above was noisy in our room (402) and the room was a bit too warm. Apart from that the hotel was great.
Location: We were there for the Festival of the Fells. Live music, Shops, Restaurants and other attractions. We went fell walking.
I took my wife for her 50th birthday. We had a relaxing weekend and were made to feel welcome. There was plenty to see and do in Ambleside. The hotel is right in the centre and we never had to use the car whilst we were there. There are plenty of good restaurants to choose from. The spa facilities in the hotel were great.
