Very helpful staff. It was my partners birthday and I asked for an ice bucket, ice and glasses to be put in the room which it was along with a lovely decorated plate of chocolates and a happy birthday message. Thank you so much!!

We asked to check in early, we were offered an upgrade for £15 extra on top of £14 for parking. We accepted the upgrade to discover when we checked into the room we had paid for 2 bottles of water and a coffee machine which neither was in the room. We were running late to a christening and spoke to the front of house reception staff who were incredibly rude and basically stood and argued with us in reception to say we had a executive room, however they had not got round to popping in the two bottles of water and the coffee machine, so basically they will trick you into a upgrade in reception for an extra £15 which is two bottles of water and a nespresso coffee machine which neither was in the room. Absolute disgusting customer service with the female manager with short black heat being completely argumentative and showing no compassion. The house keeping staff were more polite and professional. I would not stay here again, £300 for one night was ridiculous, we should have booked the Malmaison. I was born in York and coming home for my nieces Christening and it put a really bad cloud on the morning. I own my own business and if one of my staff spoke to one of my "paying" customers they was she did I would be mortified. There also was an American guy checking is at the same time, his suite was not available and they had to downgrade him. Novohotel, sort your Reception staff out. You should not use the term "upgrade" its misleading, especially for two bottles of water extra.

Stayed in a deluxe room. No alternative pillows offered and the ones provided weren't comfortable at all.

The childrens beds were not made on our arrival. Staff tried to make them whilst we were in the room. Every mattress thatvwas brought in was soiled in urine, blood or other stains. It took 4 mattresses before staff could find a relatively clean mattress Why are the matresses not covered in waterproof sheets? I did not dare check my matress in fear of what was on it but spens the whole night on top of the bedding
