Overview

If you are in this beautiful country known as “The Tom Thumb of America”, you will know that visiting different places in a short time is possible due to the proximity between one place and another. This is a huge benefit because it allows you to participate in a variety of activities throughout the day.

We recommend you travel to San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador. You will explore the most significant locations on this half-day tour, including the Historic Centre, several significant structures, squares, churches, and the handicrafts market. You can even taste some delicious pupusas at the end of the tour and close the day with a flourish.

For this tour, you only need a camera to take pictures of the beautiful places you see and your desire to know!

If you want this tour to start or end in a place other than the hotel zone of San Salvador, we will be happy to do it for you. Contact us for a quote and to coordinate the transfer.

Activity itinerary

San Salvador
  • 20m
We'll take you up from your hotel's lobby. This is the ideal opportunity to travel to El Salvador's capital. This half-day tour will be filled with a range of enjoyable activities, including a taste of pupusas, the country's signature cuisine, walking through the historical centre, and more. Prepare yourself, and join us for this special experience.
Metropolitan Cathedral of San Salvador
  • 15m
This is one of the most respected sites by the citizens. Many parishioners come here to consecrate their faith. It is undoubtedly a jewel of the city, worthy of being visited and its works to be appreciated. This site is still considered a memorial for archbishop Oscar Romero, who spoke in favour of human rights and the poorest during the late 1970s.
National Palace
  • 30m
The National Palace is just a few metres away. It is a neoclassical architecture predominate construction built in the early 20th century, however art nouveau, Gothic, and Renaissance architectural styles can also be seen in some decorative features. We'll go into the National Palace's building so you may admire the exquisite interior design, the art, and the importance of this building through history. The entrance fee to the National Palace will be included in the tour.
National Theater of San Salvador (Pass by)
One of the most significant venues for the performing arts in El Salvador was opened to the public in 1917. We will visit the building from outside, for around 15-20 minutes
Cementerio de Los Ilustres
  • 30m
Since more than 400 historical figures from El Salvador, including presidents and well-known artists, are buried here, it is one of the most significant mausoleums in the country. We'll give you a quick tour of the location and explain how each historical figure impacted society.
Plaza Libertad
  • 10m
The historic district's core is where this plaza is situated. The city's expansion specifically from this point began in the 16th century and continued till today. The Angel of Independence, erected in this plaza in 1911 to mark El Salvador's first century of independence, may be seen there. Two laurel wreaths, one in each hand, are held by this angel.
San Salvador
  • 20m
Barrio Morazan: This is one of the most historic and commemorative areas of the city of San Salvador.
Iglesia El Rosario
  • 20m
It may be found right in the centre of the Historic Centre. This church's architecture is entirely distinct from the style often used to create catholic buildings. This church is a treasure of the city's historic district. From 1964 to 1971, a total of 7 years were spent creating its one-of-a-kind structure. Some people may not find the design to be very stunning from the outside, but once inside, we can appreciate its 22-meter-high ceiling and beautiful, big windows. Inside the church, we see many wrought iron works of art. The wrought iron used in the works were originally firearms used in the civil war. After the Peace Accords, these weapons were melted down and used to decorate the church artistically and to re-signify the use of these weapons.
Mercado Nacional de Artesanias
  • 30m
This is the ideal place to buy all the souvenirs you want to take home, such as home decorations, gifts for someone special, or just a little something to remember your trip to this beautiful country.
San Salvador
  • 30m
Tradicional restaurant: There is nothing like enjoying a pupusa, one of El Salvador's most famous delicacies, to end the day on a high note. Your favourite filling, including cheese, beans, chicharron, and a variety of other ingredients, may be found inside these thick corn tortillas. You'll lick your fingertips at the end of the day!
