Description

Open the gates to one of the New 7 Wonders of the World and admire the legendary, ancient Maya town. Tucked deep in the Yucatan jungle, Chichén Itzá—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—is now regarded as a symbol of a fascinating civilization.

During a 3-hour tour of one of the most visited ruins, learn how Chichén Itzá was constructed in phases and marvel at the site which boasts the most diverse set of Maya architecture in one location. See an array of monumental buildings such as the well-known Pyramid of Kukulcan and the Observatory.

Look in awe over the massive Temple of the Warriors, one of the site's most important structures, which has 200 square columns with a Toltec warrior carved in each one. See the Great Ball Court. Stop and imagine the cheers from the crowd as players engaged in competitive games presided by their king. After the tour, you will visit a local restaurant to enjoy an included buffet.

You'll head to the refreshing Yokdzonot Cenote for a swim. Cenotes are natural sinkholes resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes fresh water underneath, After the Cenote visit, board the vehicle back to Merida. You'll return to your hotel at approximately 5:30 pm.

Enjoyed the day - Our advice is do this tour before you see Uxmal. We were late being picked up but the company rang our hotel to let us know they were on the way. We were part of a large 28 predominately Spanish speaking party but our very nice guide on the bus gave historical info & announcements in Spanish & English. The crowds at the entrance were huge & it was a bit confusing but our admission had been included so we didn’t have to wait long. Once inside we were split into English speaking & Spanish groups & had another interesting guide to take us around the site. There were a lot of visitors that day but the site is huge so it wasn’t an issue. You can’t climb any of the pyramids or buildings but they are still amazing to look at. Then we had free time to wander about before going to another venue for a nice buffet lunch which was included. Finally we went to a Cenote which was cool to see & you could swim Advice take a hat otherwise wear what you like. 😎

This tour was a fun and informational experience. Our guide was very knowlegable and was able to explain the most in depth details of the tour. This is my second time taking this tour with the same exact tour company! They are always very professional, friendly, and safe.

The tour guide was kind of long winded about things that were not applicable to tour. The bus was super bumpy.
