What you can expect

Visit filming locations and the true home of the von Trapp family as you relive classic moments from the Hollywood hit, The Sound of Music. Afterwards, go on an exhilarating underground adventure in the mysterious depths of a former salt mine.

Remarkable scores and intriguing history come together on a scenic trip following the footsteps of the von Trapp family. See the Mirabell Palace gardens – the setting for the “Do-Re-Mi” song – and the gazebo within Hellbrunn Palace. Tour the set of Rolf and Liesl's duet, the historic Nonnberg Abbey, and the enchanting village of St Gilgen on the lakeshores of Wolfgangsee, used to set the film's opening scene. Also included are the idyllic Leopoldskorn Palace and the church at the waters of Mondsee, where the wedding scene took place.

In the afternoon, ride to the mountains outside Salzburg and don protective miner’s clothing. Snap a photograph in your authentic outfit and head into the depths as you descend into mineshafts on board an electric train.

Learn about the fascinating history of salt mining in the Alps from an expert guide as you wind through a maze of branching channels. When the train stops, disembark and slide down wooden ramps that take you even deeper. Before your tour ends, hop on a raft and marvel at the cave system as you peacefully glide on an otherworldly subterranean lake.
