What you can expect

Stop At: Ineleț 327129, Romania

”Be blessed on this mountain and remember that God is with you at all times. "

With this blessing written by the villagers, we begin to climb to the village of Ineleț, a hamlet forgotten by the world and time. Ineleț Hamlet forms the village of Scărișoara together with Gura Iuţii, Ţațu and Crouri, it is one of the most isolated places in the country and can be accessed only on stairs set by locals in the 1970s and on a path that starts at 22 km distance from Baile Herculane. The locals prefer the stairs because the trip is shorter and close to the city. Hiking takes us to a paradise beyond stairs where man lives in perfect balance with nature, landscapes are dreamy and where you feel closer to heavens. The route starts at the base of the Cerna river that we cross on the national road 67D, then climbs a steep path up to the stairs, these are constructed of 4 large stairs, the last being the steepest, placed at an angle of 90 °. These stairs connect us with the “world from beyond” and take us closer to the hamlet of Ineleț. The hiking itself offers you a landscape of splendour in which you can admire the Mehedinti mountains and the Cerna mountains at the same time. On the hiking trail, the locals built benches where we can rest and read the handwritten messages on planks designed to motivate you to continue. Once we reach the ridge we can admire the landscapes and the Church, going to the Ineleț hamlet and discovering how the villagers live in this natural heaven beyond the stairs. We can also discover the traditional cuisine of the place by eating with the locals in their homes.
