What you can expect
Hand in hand with expert local guides, today is a very special day where history, culture and gastronomy merge into one.
A real experience once we arrive to Zarautz, where we will enjoy a guided tour around the village, including Karlos Arginano Restaurant, one of the most popular Basque chefs on TV in Spain. Zarautz has been an important summer resort for great noble families and friends of the royalty, especially Alfonso XIII,where they still keep their summer palaces.
First stop in Zarautz to enjoy its market that although very small, has a special charm. We will know first-hand the work of local producers and their products.
Once the visit is over, transfer to Getaria, known for its seafaring tradition, which has led to the creation of excellent restaurants, beaches and docks, It is a walled medieval townsitting on a hillside. The silhouette of Mount San Anton, better known as the Mouse of Getaria, draws special attention and comes out into the sea.
Getaria has traditionally been a village of fishermen and great sailors such as Juan Sebastian Elcano, the first man to circumnavigate the world. For hundreds of years whaling was of great importance to the economy of the town. In fact, the whale has historically been the main motive for its coat-of-arms.
Lunch will be in a local restaurant with a typical menu.
After lunch, you will visit the world-famous fashion designer Cristobal Balenciaga Museum and the annex building, that is the Aldamar Palce. The figure of the designer is present in town where he was born in 1895. His birthplace now pays homage to him with this unique museum which houses one of the world most important fashion collections.
At the end of the day, a special visit to an even more special winery. An eco-friendly visit to a Txakolindegi white wine cellar that is only produced on the Basque coast. A family winery in its fourth generation, whose work transports us to taste the fruit of its labour.
At the foreseen time, we will return to the hotel
