What you can expect

Bring the music and magic of The Sound of Music to life as you journey through the hills beyond Salzburg in the footsteps of the von Trapp family. Seek out filming locations in the city and in the scenic Alpine region of Salzkammergut, and hear background stories about the making of the classic film from a local guide.

An expert guide—working with the same company that transported the film crew for shooting in 1964—introduces you to the intriguing background of the von Trapps as you visit film sites and spots where the family actually lived and spent time. Journey through picturesque Salzburg and the Salzkammergut region, make your way to the Mirabell Gardens, the setting for the “Do-Re-Mi” song, and dance around the gazebo at Hellbrunn Palace, the set of Rolf and Liesl's duet.

The opening scene of the film comes to life at the historic Nonnberg Abbey and in the enchanting village of St. Gilgen on Wolfgangsee lake. You also pay visits to idyllic Leopoldskorn Palace and the church at Mondsee lake, where the film's wedding scene took place.
