Great value for Family room.

Pros: Having parking and the central location.
Cons: Breakfast could have more fruit.
Location: possible to walk to lots of restaurants and the sights of the golden gate bridge and the ferry building.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Secure, easy to use parking for a reasonable price. Room was clean. Good facilities with exercise room.

Liz; Thank you for taking the time to write about and rate your stay at The Opal. I'm glad you like our central location and got to take advantage of it by seeing all the sights of the city. I am glad to read you found the staff friendly and helpful! Thank you also for your comments about our on site gated parking with 24 hour in and out privilege. We do try to price it fairly for the city. I will look into adding more fruit for the breakfast. Thank you for your comments. Guest comments are one of our best tools for improving our service.

Needs makeover

I travel regularly to SFO and use various hotels. Opal is not down town near Mission/Union Square and the walk up to Van Ness is very scary with homeless people. The breakfast was lacking in healthy options, the room needed decorating, the shower was very out of date. It was comfortable and quiet but just not worth the money in comparison to hotels nearby.

Sightseeing

The staff were extremely helpful & knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. It was good value for money & I would definitely recommend as a place to stay.

Value for money

Very good value and location with friendly and helpful staff. No complaints other than basic breakfast selection becomes even less than basic on some days!

Hotel has seen better days and surrounding streets are a bit scary

Hotel is great value for SF. It has seen better days, fixtures and fittings are old and the breakfast is poor. But it more than does the job as a fairly centrally located hotel for people that want to see SF rather than hang around the hotel. The only real downsides that the surrounding streets (Geary in particular) are full of tramps and people sleeping rough. We just took uber back to the hotel and had no problems. I wouldn't have been happy walking late at night.

Excellent 3* hotel.

We had a very nice big room with 2 queen sized beds and sofa . Very accessible especially if you check out the local bus services. Nice and clean and lovely continental breakfast, also cheese and wine on the Wednesday night. Staff were very friendly and helpful, Would go back like a shot !

Perfect for needs

Was attending a conference. 20 min walk from Conference centre, free and stable wifi. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel is on the edge of the tenderloin so ask hotel staff for best ways to walk or catch cabs. Would use again

Thank you for taking the time to comment and vote for your stay with us. Comments are important for small independent hotels like ours, because they let people know what we are doing well and they let us know what we have to fix. We are renovating and remodeling our 110-year-old building to bring it more into the 21st century..Again, thank you for writing and I hope you have a nice day.

Bussimatka Union Squarelle kesti 5-8 min. Tyttäreni asuu perheineen väliaikaisesti SAN Fraciscossa joten vietin päiväni heidän kanssaan.
