The Eight Bells is a pub with a restaurant and the accommodation is separate - in a house across the street, in fact. The staff were very welcoming and attentive, the room was lovely and the food in the restaurant was very good and reasonably priced.

Beyond hopeless

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything
The traffic is inches from the bedroom windows and there is no hope of a good sleep. Cold, damp rooms and bathroom without any heating at all. I was there in February and it was very cold. Toilet flush broken. Shower leaks all over the floor. Beer terrible, cloudy and tastes of detergent. Navvies at the bar swearing and cursing. NO BREAKFAST. I booked bed and breakfast and paid for it. I expect to get it. The entire place was locked up and there was no one there to deal with guests in the morning. Don't stay here go to a decent hotel run by professionals.

Pros: The room was good
Cons: Management and organisation - looking after the customer.
Location: Very convenient for M23 and Brighton / Hove.
Room was beautiful, comfortable and clean. Lovely bathroom, and great shower, with free standing bath. However, room not serviced well on first day, with rubbish bin unemptied. okay next day. Breakfast experience not good. This must have been a bad week, as reviews seemed to be excellent. Tables not set up for breakfast, and still food under tables and empty glasses left from previous evening. First morning cereal basket consisted of Coco pops {loads ] or a box of cornflakes. Asked for well done bacon, but was under cooked ! Toast came on same plate as cooked breakfast, ready buttered. Had to ask for everything, even cutlery - one morning sat with bowl of cereal, but no spoon, no milk. Asked for orange juice, but one morning didn't get any. another day the bag of cornflakes was dumped on the table, with plastic milk bottle !! Had to ask for marmalade but usually given jam. Was very disorganised, and we were very disappointed overall !! Needs managing !

Ideal inn for a quiet country retreat

Pros: The room was spotless, the bed very comfortable. The food is very good and the service quick and polite.
Cons: Nothing all was well
Location: It's in the country not too far from Hickstead, apart from that there is a multitude of things to do.
A quiet place to stay and the whole place is worth it.

Really lovely stay.

The staff could not of been nicer, really friendly and helpful. As my stay was due to a work trip I was on my own but I was made to feel very welcome by everyone, which made my stay. I would definitely recommend The Eight Bells.
