Hotel to ourselves

Well.... After booking this hotel, I then read reviews which were poor, but it was too late then. We were the only people in the hotel! The guy that checked us in appeared to have the weight of the world on his shoulders, but was happy to please, I believe he is also the owner. I can only describe the hotel as a throwback from the 80s, after of it was closed, like the restaurant, gym and half the rooms. All the rooms we could see were cluttered with all sorts of things and looked like it shouldn't be open to customers. Is very much in need of a big injection of cash to get it to where it should be. Did some investigating and discovered that it used to be best westerns charnwood hotel. How and why it went down hill and became cherry Park Hall I don't know. Our room was clean and comfortable although the radiator was on was also given a heater! The rest of the hotel had no heating on! I can image the hotel very shortly having to close for good and eventually being a place to urge! Such a shame, beautiful location and gorgeous building.

Worse hotel I've ever stopped at

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything
Location: Location is isolated
No heating as the owner has gone bankrupt, the place was dirty, freezing, outdated, only one stopping there so that just about sums it up ! Booked in for two nights but only stayed one!

Tried Hard!

Pros: The twin room No.6 was very nicely furnished and upholstered and the beds clean and comfortable. Dr Adam trying hard to make this a successful venture
Cons: Take down Xmas decs b4 end of Feb from common areas and renovate those areas to give a better initial impression.
Location: Hotel located rather remotely from village - need transport as lack of pavements. Tickhill and Bawtry excellent shopping villages within 5 miles.
Initially, on arriving inside the Reception area, we were disappointed by the distressed appearance of the common areas and corridors but then pleasantly surprised by the contemporary and comfortable bedroom which had every amenity (with the exception of sugar). Dr Adam, the owner, went to endless trouble to accommodate us and was very helpful and friendly. However, as we were the only guests in this slightly remote hotel for several nights and our car stood alone in its enormous car park, it was sadly lacking in hotel atmosphere!
