Sadly it wasn't the stay I'd hoped for. The hotel building and grounds are beautiful, however the furniture in the rooms and conservatory where you eat is tired (cracked seats, torn curtains in the room, chipped desk with missing handles, meagre range of tea bags, breakfast coffee was syrup/mix based with boil-in bag scrambled eggs and I would of expected Scottish milk but Lakeland milk and butter was used. Staff were friendly and presentable but lack of attention on entry, fo example, we had to wait for a staff conversation to finish first before being attended to and no being encouraged to stay for dinner, which was a first, so we ate out in the city instead. The gym facilities were great with what looked like brand new weights and cardio equipment, the bit that let it down was really poor condition lockers which gave such a bad impression. Each of these issues are nothing major and some guests may not be that bothered but together, it took the shine off what I'd booked as a one night treat to get away. I like to support independents instead of chains but I feel for a £100, I could have got a much better experience elsewhere. It does seem the management are investing in areas of the hotel with new carpets, a very impressive entrance hall and reception area and the bar looked great (although again, I couldn't see much in the way of supporting Scottish ales - again I feel this is a missed opportunity). It's a 3.5/5.

Perfect

This is a lovely hotel with great friendly staff. We really enjoyed our break at this hotel. We had both breakfast and dinner and both were very well cooked and good value. Definitely recommend to others

Great for business

I was in Dundee for business, and this hotel was located just off the motorway, very easy to find, which is why i booked it. The room was very modern, ample sized, and very clean. (make sure you ask for a room in the new wing) Bathtub was a dream, very deep. Food was good and reasonably priced, and breakfast was great, with lots of choice. I would reccomend anyone to stay here, and would certainly book again.
