Room for improvement
This hotel is best avoided for the moment. The new owner is trying to make changes but in the meantime it's not good. We had to wait 1.5 hours to check in having arrived at 4pm. The linen on both beds looked suspiciously like they had left on from the previous guest. We did not eat dinner at the hotel but met 3 guests in the lift who told us that their meal had been awful. Breakfast the following morning certainly backed that up.
The manager was very apologetic about our delay at check in and offered us dinner/drinks on the house as an apology which was a nice gesture.
Hope in time they can turn this place around.

Excellent location for exploring the area

We only had dinner there once during our (6 night) stay, my fish pie was so awful that I sent it back, they served another one but it was nearly as bad. Any decent chef should be able to produce a fish pie ! They did remove it from our bill, but we didn't dine there again because of it.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry that you did not enjoy the food, and have spoken with our chef in regards to this.

Nice people but a bit 'faded glory'
Pros:Staff and location
Cons:General uplift in decor, it's poor for the money. Breakfast. Cooking was fine but toast, tea and coffee were appalling.
Location:A lot of walks nearby, long and short. There are very few other things to do in Arrochar or Tarbet except cruises on Loch Lomond.
God location with pleasant staff. The dinner was pretty good but the breakfast was disappointing, poor quality bread and diy tea and coffee from a flask. Carpets were worn through, wall paper torn and peeling in places. Some chairs in the dining room were in a poor state. There was a lift but the 'rabbit warren' nature of the building meant that there was still a lot of stairs.

Great hotel on the shores of Loch Long
Pros:Given the price there was nothing not to like
Cons:The corridor outside our room was a little shabby
Location:The location was stunning at the head of Loch Long with Dunoon and Invarrary within easy reach. Close to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs
We chose this hotel when we had to visit the area for a funeral and thought it such good value that we stayed an extra night. We had a double Loch view room which was clean, warm and comfortable and had all the necessary facilities. The staff were excellent and whilst the food could not be described as Cordon Bleu it was tasty, freshly cooked and varied whilst the breakfasts were superb. The deal for the extra night was incredible so don't be put off by the price - there are many hotels charging twice the price which are half as good
