The whole property is in a terrible state of repair. Needs a huge amount of investment to bring up up to a livable standard. Unfortunately the rooms were very dirty and dusty, even after changing rooms. Bed was so ichy it was impossible to sleep. If we could have got somewhere else to stay that night we would have left.

The property looked nice our room was lovely the facilities were ok I wouldnt put this as a 4 star hotel. Staff very friendly but weren't great they missed our room service on the door the first night. Our room wasn't ready until after 4 and they didn't let us know even though they suggested we wait and have a drink in the bar and they'd come get us which didn't happen.maybe under staffed but overall poor

Lovely location, very helpful staff, decor authentic and pleasant but public areas quite cold . Bed very comfortable and bathroom modern . Air conditioning in the room was perfect . Unfortunately the walls were marked and grubby and the carpet needed cleaning. The castle gardens and grounds were very well kept. Breakfast was nice and staff very attentive. Evening meal was beautiful but menu limited. We stayed on Saturday and Sunday and the menu did not change . Overall I would have no hesitation in returning.

Stunning

Location: Very easy to get to,the Castle is easily spotted from miles away and quite literally 5 min walk from the town center.
We arrived at just gone 3pm to a ground full of the most beautiful Peacocks just wandering around with their babies minding their own business,A lovely warm welcome from reception. Check in took all of 5 mins and was informative and easy. Our room...... the 2nd biggest bed ive ever been in (1st one being Heartbreak Hotel Memphis, but everything is huge over there)! It was sumptuous, with a nice heavy quilt and as many pillows as u like. The room was a standard luxury room but never felt like it. It was very cosy, had air con, iron & drinks supplies of tea, coffee & hot chocolate and the Roll top bath & shower was so huge!! Toiletries are provided,as are huge white fluffy towels that are left warming for ur arrival. The Castle is wonderfull, from every angle inside & out! The lounges are all homely and just as you would expect, all huge fireplaces, rugs & sofas with paintings, mirrors & the occaisional Knights Armour. The food is cooked to perfection with a large choice and the option to have it brought to ur room. I WANT TO LIVE THERE!!!! We cant wait to go back. Ruthin town is about a 5 min walk away and has lots goin on,little shops, bars and a post office. Theres a Costa,Weatherspoons & Boots. Down the little hill (5-10 min) is the old Gaol... well worth a visit we spent over 2 hrs in there (cost £5 each). Theres also a Craft & Art gallery (free entry). We had a lovely time in Ruthin and WHEN we go back, will most definatly stay at the Castle again!

Beautiful surroundings, well worth the price

Pros: The big fire place and cosy surroundings
Cons: Decor could do with updating, the carpets were worn out
Location: It's ideally situated in a lovely little village, a few shops, restaurants and not far from some really good walks
The staff were lovely, the castle was very grande and beautiful but the carpets etc could do with updating

Amazing

We have just returned from our wedding weekend at Ruthin Castle. What a fabulous experience to cherish for the rest of our lives. The staff here are an absolute dream, nothing is too much trouble. The setting is a true fairytale for a princess. We would recommend you try it for yourselves.
