Istanbul Trip

Friendly staff, excellent location

My wife, daughter and I spent a wonderful 3-night stay at Sultan House Hotel with its very friendly staff. The location is excellent for exploring old Istanbul since the hotel is just off the hippodrome square and a short walk to the Sultanahmet tram station. We also enjoyed the free breakfast and love the hot chocolate. Highly recommended.

Over all it was a good family trip

The hotel was small, breakfast was poor, some of the staff were pushy, and the bathroom was tiny, but location was excellent.

Superb Location

This is a great little hotel which is just 2 min walk from the Blue Mosque. The staff are friendly and polite, offering lots of advice and help. The rooms are clean but fairly basic.

Exactly what we needed

Excellent location, right next to the Blue Mosque and could clearly hear the call to prayer. We had the family room which is on the corner of the ground floor of the building opposite. Two large rooms - double bed in one 2 singles TV, kitchen sink, units and fridge, table and 4 chairs in other. Shower room. Very clean, fresh towels daily. It is a side street but there's a college at the end of the road so occasionally very noisy. The passing cars sounded as though they were next to the bed! Not many of them so no great issue. Friendly and very helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble. Manager gave advice about travelling around Istanbul, what we could see and where to eat, all good recommendations. Breakfast - lots of it, fresh bread, yoghurt and fruits, eggs, sausage - usual fare but well presented and hot. Would definitely stay again and recommend.

ok, location makes up for alot

Arrived to find our room, that I had confirmed twice directly with the hotel, had been double booked, and we had been moved to a room directly off the reception area and breakfast room, so with no privacy, although was a standard room and not economy that I had booked, at no extra charge. We stayed in there one night and were moved the next day, again to a standard not economy room. I felt the price I paid was high for a standard room, let alone economy. Although the rooms were clean, they are quite small, and don't have a chair, or other simple things, like a bin. Staff overall were very friendly and helpful, but they charged me for my extra guest for 5 nights (which I had booked) when they only stayed for 4 nights, despite them being made aware of this the day before I checked out, when they left. I was told not enough notice was given and I felt this to be unfair. Also, staff insisted that the maximum transfer time to airport was 45 mins, when I booked their shuttle bus, and it took 1 hour 15 mins, so I had a rush at the airport, so bear this is mind as queues for security and passport control at Attaturk can be very long! Although overall I felt it was expensive for what it was, this is a nice hotel, in a great area just off the Hippodrome and mins from the Blue Mosque.

Excellent!

Excellent location, excellent staff, excellent room, excellent breakfast. All in all, quite excellent! Thank you. x PS. Take a kettle if you need one - although hot drinks are always available downstairs.

Convenient location!

Our room was a very spacious 2 room apartment with a view of the blue mosque. Location was perfect., with many top tourist sites within walking distance. Staff were very helpful and friendly. We would definitely return.
