Comfortable bed in The CAptains house, separate to main building. Good pool, good breakfast, enjoyed our stay.

Lovely views of the beach

This hotel does not have enough parking, upon arrival there was no available parking & we were told to park outside on the road. This too was full however I would not have wanted to leave my car there with cars being parked on both sides & very little space for others to get through. Only other option was a paying carpark around the corner. Not a great first impression!!! Room was very clean however a little worn in places. Breakfast was lovely and the staff cannot do enough for you. Overall not a bad hotel but I did expect a little more.

Tired, cold hotel.

Pros: The view.
Cons: The hotel is in need of refurbishment particularly the bathrooms. The services of the hotel are also very limited at certain times of the day (11am!)
Location: Good location. Rick Steins restaurant nearby and very good. Very close to the beach.
We checked on Saturday evening and faced the long journey back home rather than subject ourselves to another night! Upon checking out, I was left waiting for 25 minutes with only one check in ahead of me. The process of checking in a group of four in two rooms was terribly inefficient and I was not even acknowledged whilst waiting patiently as the group had to be given explanations in relation to all that was wrong with their booking and how to navigate from one building to another which they were also very angry at. When I eventually was tended to, I said Room X checking out now instead of tomorrow as we no longer wish to stay. The “receptionist” did not even care to ask why!! I offered my feedback in any case and she is clearly used to problems as her approach was cold, bordering on rude and not fitting for a role in the industry of hospitality. We did not book a house share, however that is what we were given. We were situated in a building adjacent to the hotel with one front door into a house with multiple rooms. The room itself was relatively pleasant with a good view. The bathroom was well below standard and in need of refurbishment. Water pressure poor, not hot enough and the condition overall was tired, unclean due to wear and tear and generally substandard. The bed was two singles pushed together and very noticeable and uncomfortable. We booked a Superior Double room with balcony. A night "on the house" was insulting & not a fitting response from the management.

Just Peachy

Although this hotel is having a major refit/extension, this did not affect our sheer pleasure of staying here. The staff were genuinely kind and very welcoming, especially Bernie. We will definitely be looking for offers to come back to this beautiful part of Cornwall.
